Coronation Street's Betty Driver back in hospital

Actress Betty Driver, who plays Betty Williams, has been rushed into hospital, says today's Sun. Betty  is believed to have pneumonia and was admitted to hospital earlier this week.

Betty was due to be filming this week, but producers have had to re-write the scenes she was set to shoot.

Last night a Corrie spokeswoman said: "Betty has been taken to hospital. We are all wishing her a speedy recovery."

  1. I think they should write her out. Although we dont see much of Betty lately I still enjoy her. However I dont want her to die in real life and they have to do another story like Blanches. She wouldnt even have to die in coro, just send her to another country or something.

  2. i think writing betty out would be a option but she has said she never wants to leave, but i really hope they give her some sort of storyline?? and if she was written out then that would be the end of betty and no one would speak much about her even after the 46 years on screen,

    GET WELL SOON BETTY :)

  3. Why on earth would you want Betty written out?........she is the last link really to so many beloved characters no longer on the street. Hope she gets well soon, comes back to the Rovers and gets a bit of a storyline....some one liners with Sylvie would be brilliant!

  4. Keeping my fingers crossed Betty is ok and recovers soon. The rovers really wouldn't be the sma ewithout her.I know her age limits her time on screen nowadays but every second she appears is a joy, nobody else touches her! Write her out?! Wash your mouths out!

  5. Betty is Coronation Street!! She is such a hoot - makes us all laugh when she's on screen!

Had hoped to see her in that long-overdue-and-never-before-done scene with Ken Barlow...

    GET WELL SOON, BETTY!!
