Steve and Becky are carrying on with Max as though NOTHING is wrong in the world at all. Liz comes in to say good morning and is immediately given the cold shoulder. What does she expect though, eh? Becky has a hair appointment and realizes that Steve can’t watch him. Even though Liz volunteers to mind Max, both Becky and Steve turn down her offer. Steve’s still angry that Liz tried to buy him out of his pub, but Liz still wonders how he’ll settle his accounts. Jim arrives at the Rovers and Tracey and Betty think there’s something going on, so they try to overhear. Jim tells Steve that he’d like to make him an offer to buy the pub. Steve says the only reason he wants to buy it is to get his way back to Liz. Jim wonders how they’ll pay their debts otherwise. Jim gets fed up and tells him to just think about it. Becky calls Liz a piece of work, and Liz leaves. Later in the cafe, Liz tells Jim that she thinks their ship as sailed. Jim says he doesn’t mind swimming after it, so long as they let him back on board.
At No.1, we see Ken and Deirdre, whom we haven’t seen much of lately. Well, despite their bedtime stories. Ken is doing something really boring to do with words (Wordsmith 21?) on the laptop as Deirdre helps Amy do her mother’s day cards. When Tracey arrives home Amy shows her a mother’s day card she made for her and Tracey’s delighted. That is, until, she also shows her one she made for Becky. Tracey tries to crumple Becky’s card, until everyone screams at her not too. Tracey says she’ll bring the card to “Auntie” Becky later. Tracey shows Becky the cards later in the Rover’s and Becky can’t help but kick off with Tracey after she realizes that her card is crumpled. Steve admonishes Becky later for almost lamping Tracey and can’t believe that Becky still rises to Tracey’s bait. They both agree that they miss Amy. Becky thinks that Kylie could take Max at any time and Becky can feel her world slipping beneath her feet. She tells Steve that they should think about Jim’s offer. Becky’s solution – as usual – is to run away from her problems. She tells Steve that they should pack up the kiddies and run away where no one can find them. And she’s dead serious. *sigh*
Over at Tyrone’s, the dishy Tommy will be helping out at the garage with Tyrone since Tyrone hired him as a valet. Tommy knows all about what Kevin has done to Tyrone now and Tommy throws it in Kevin’s face too. Sally storms into the garage with a bouquet of roses assuming Kevin sent them and throws them to the ground stomping on them saying she hates roses. Later, when Sal meets up with Jeff she realizes that it was Jeff who sent the roses and lies about them being in a vase at home. Kevin brings in the stomped flowers to the Rovers and throws them at Sally and Jeff. Sally explains, but how much of this can Jeff take? Although he hasn’t seemed to mind much.
Graeme and Tina try to get their kicks in still. Graeme pretends to wash her window while he sneaks in a cheeky snog when she opens it. How is this being discreet? Xin sees them and annoyingly recites learned tid-bits of Graeme’s life to him. Can’t wait for this sham to crash and burn! It seems now that Xin knows Graeme’s latte order better than Tina now and Tina’s not liking it! Not exactly what she bargained for, is it?
Tommy flirts with Tina in the Rovers later and he tries it on hard with her. He manages to get her to agree to watch a scary film later at Tyrone’s with them and Kirk. To which she says yes – cause what else has she got on? Over at Tyrone’s, they’re all watching the film. Tommy plays a joke to scare the gullible Kirk and everyone ends up having a laugh, including Tina. Tommy settles in with his arm around Tina quickly as Tyrone can’t believe this smooth operator. Perhaps he’s got some of Jack’s charm, eh?
Gail comes down her stairs (everything happens to Gail on those steps), to see Kylie and David snogging at the bottom, much to her *ahem* delight. Sarcasm noted. When Kylie’s gone to nail school Gail asks David why Kylie never sees her own son and wonders why she never talks to her sister either. David looks thoughtful as Gail leaves on that note. With his mum’s words in his ears later, David asks Becky if he and Kylie can’t take Max to the zoo on Saturday. Kylie looks surprised at David asking this, but goes along with it, however, Becky refuses. Later, Kylie wants to know why David’s so interested in Max. David wants to know why Max lives with Becky and why they don’t talk. Kylie quickly realizes that it’s Gail who’s been egging David on. She freaks out at Gail about interfering. Gail says she wants to know everything. Kylie tells Gail tearfully how she was born on an estate to a drunk mother, who had a pervy boyfriend (her father) that molested Becky and Becky left her there alone when she was 8 years old with the terrible father. Then, she got pregnant and was kicked out only she was on the streets, so they took her kid away. Kylie wonders why Becky was then. Gail has a case of foot-in-mouth and David asks her if she’s happy now.
Nick’s worrying about his bar re-opening and he can’t get his wine delivery. Gran hears this and remembers that Marc is a wine dealer. She says that Marc owes her a favour, so leave it with her. Marc is there at the Rovers and fulfills his wine order. Claudia walks in and sees them there and they all coax her to stay for a drink. She stays for “just a drink.” Claudia wonders if his sister has let him out. She doesn’t let much go by unsaid, does she? Marc goes on about how he’s basically been stalking her at her salon and she is flattered by this, of course.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Thank you for giving us another Corrie hunk in Tommy Duckworth! He’s not exactly the tall dark and handsome, but 2 outta 3 ain’t bad! (Another note that I thought about – they should have gotten an actor that looked more like this one for the reprised role of Nick Tilsley…just sayin’)
- Kylie seems to be cleaning up her life since I can’t believe she’s actually going to nail-salon-school. Aesthetics College? IF she is actually going. I don’t mind her so much, I prefer her over that sister personally. But maybe it’s just a case of “out with the old, in with the new.”
- Gail on Kylie: “She’s finished the milk again. It’s like having a stray cat in the house.”
- Tina to Graeme: “You might get a hand full to go with your eye full.”
- I actually like the banter between Tracey and Betty at the Rovers. Especially when Tracey almost rudely tells Betty to “cut to the end” of a long story, and she does.
- Betty on Liz: “…with her dangling earrings, and her dangling bosoms.”
- I love how Amy’s “Becky” mother’s day card makes Becky look like a crazy hippie with too much lippy next to Tracey’s more simple (could be anyone) silhouette. From the mouths of babes!
LOWLIGHTS
- I’m so sick of the consistently awkward situation at the Rovers ever since Becky has set up shop.
- Okay, why is Graeme snogging Tina from the upstairs window like some sort of window-washing Romeo? Is this what they call being discreet? They only live on, arguably, the most gossiped street in the world!
- I can’t stand how that bossy little Tina is treating Graeme like crap after she’s the one who got him saddled in this mess!
- Kirk wanting to know if Tommy could teach him how to hit on girls. It works for Tommy, cause he’s good looking, and nothing else. Sorry Kirkeh!
- This Marc character has got the cheesiest smile on earth! It’s like he’s consistently posing for some older gentleman’s clothing wear catalogue!
- Um, what is Tina doing letting Tommy put his arm around her? She HAS a boyfriend! Whom of which, is giving up his life to help HER out. Ugh, I knew she’d be the ruin of him.
Thoroughly agree about Miss Macintyresome she ruins the life of everyone she is around. Poor Grahame but I suspect he and Xin are going to fall for each other.
ReplyDeleteI am mystified how the rather old fashioned and middle aged Jalfie is the owner of a trendy model agency, not a fake tan, veneered teeth or a plucked eyebrow in sight.
I find the whole Becky/Steve/Liz business uncomfortable viewing, why on earth does Liz want this tatty old back street boozer anyway and Jim's sudden "reappearance" seems stilted somehow. How come he was agreeing to buy the Roves when he didnt even have enough money to pay for the meal at the Bistro.
And WHERE IS GAIL GETTING HER MONEY FROM? Her purse seems a bottomless pit with no job in sight, this really winds me up as it doesnt show any kind of realism in these cut back times.
Think Tommy is great, love the way he is an ally for Tyrone against the belicose twit that is Kevin Webster. Its about time someone gave him a pasting.
Its pretty obvious that Becky and Steve are NOT going to run away with the kiddies but stay put in the Rovers, so I find this whole story tiresome and pointless.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Frosty, just where is Gail getting her money from? £100 she gave to Kylie for the dress - eh? Can I have one of those magic purses please?
ReplyDeleteAgree about Tommy - the street needs a young hunk. He will look even better wandering around in his boxers, when he does not have to wear the fake tan any more. Shame he hadn't spent the last 6 months in Wigan.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are spot on about Ben Price. Why couldn't they have found a good looking actor or at least one who does not look at least 10 years too old for the role?
Gail spends nearly 2 weeks dole money on a dress. It must be magic.
Agree...poor Graeme.Tina is such a douche for selling him out. I really hope he does a runner with Xin.Tina used him badly and needs her comeuppance.
ReplyDeleteTommy is a very good looking guy..about time to have one on the show..there's. As if ANYONE would thing Ben Price was hot. I would like to see Kirk smash the sh!t out of that useless John Stape though.
I actually thought the sight of Tommy with his shirt off was pretty disappointing...
ReplyDeleteKen was "was doing something boring with words". He was playing online Scrabble !!! Ever heard of it ?
ReplyDeleteI don.t want they to run away
ReplyDeleteThoroughly dislike Marc and his weepy story about his wife dying after she got used to his cross-dressing....oh boo-hoo.....he is creepy........bring back ARCHIE!
ReplyDeleteFurthermore, Claudia's voice just grates on my nerves.....perhaps she can start dressing like a man (would go with that voice)take Marc and catch a plane with Liz when she runs off to Spain for good.
