There's many facets to Graeme Proctor on Coronation Street. Crazy fire starter, garden doctor, nutter in the hats with his home-spun philosophy and friend to David Platt.
And now, he’s – well, what?
Getting him together with Tina might have looked good on paper but he’s had a sense of humour by-pass since he got loved up. He’s not mad, bad and fun to watch any more. He’s just a bit sad. And now they’re marrying him off to a Chinese girl we’re supposed to care about - and don’t, what’s to become of our favourite Corrie bloke?
It seems it’s not just me who’s not enjoying this Graeme and Xin storyline. After asking Corrie fans on twitter it looks like there’s a lot of unhappy fans over this Xin storyline. If this is the storyline that takes Graeme away from us, as we know actor Craig Gazey is leaving Corrie this year, then what a wasteful end to a great character it’ll be.
You're right. He's lost his "bazinga" since pairing off with Tina and this Xin story is one of the worst and most contrived-to-make-up-an-exit storylines ever. (until the next one that is). Boooooring
ReplyDeleteNot buying it at all...ridiculous even for a soap. I'll bet Gazey can't wait to see the end of it.Too bad because he was a bright spot amongst all the dull and dreary storylines of late.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. Everything has already been said, but how are we supposed to care about Xin's problems. Knowing that this is all leading to Graeme's exit makes me dislike this new character even more.
ReplyDeleteIf we're lucky, Xin will go as well!
ReplyDeleteMust agree. What a terrible storyline. I just cringed and rolled my eyes when Tina called Xin her 'best mate.' How ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteIf Xin was Tina's best mate, where was she when her father died? Horrible contrived storyline, and it's like watching another train wreck, you just know it will end badly.
ReplyDeleteThe storyline sucks completly agree with bbhilda where was Xin when Tina's dad died. Its such a shame they are ruining two great characters with this storyline, Tina + Graeme are my absolute favourites and this storyline ruins their awesome relationship and shows them in a bad light :(
ReplyDeleteThe only upside to this story line is that they are not killing off Graham, could leave the door open for a future return. Agree with everyone about the best mate thing, what kind of friend would not have been there in times of strife? Will miss the Graham character no matter what, just to bad it had to and in such a lame way.
ReplyDelete- Oh, Tina has squashed Graeme! He was fantastic...oh well
ReplyDelete- Yoork
I think Craig has lost his luster, and likely his interest. It seems he's just going through the motions of the bad story and waiting for contract-end-day.
ReplyDeleteThe best friend remark was indeed silly. Graeme seemed ok as a comedy character, but I find that nasal voice Craig Gazey puts on a little annoying, so much so I can't really take the character seriously.
ReplyDeleteBoth McIntyres just seemed to suck the life out of everyone around them; they were/are very demanding and don't seem to give anything back. Graeme has been one of my favourite characters since the day he showed up and it's sad to see the writers planing off the interesting aspects of the character and turning him into just another Corrie male with his testicles inside some woman's handbag. I don't think we've had an actual alpha male on the street since Paul Connor died.
ReplyDeleteIs that a squirrel Tina is wearing on her head these days? Yes Graheme was ruined by Tina, same as the Steve and Becky pairing, just did not gel. Tina is a user pure and simple, its pretty obvious they are not going to get away with this. Xin has a face that just begs to be slapped, I hope she gets deported pretty soon.
ReplyDeleteAwful storyline (another..awful storyline...)
ReplyDeleteSomeone has not done there research properly.
ReplyDeleteA chinese girl on a student visa cannot marry and have leave to remain in this country.
