Jim has a bad idea, so he does

The Sun has a shocking spoiler, so it does. Apparently Jim will attempt to rob a building society to try and solve Steve and Becky's escalating problems, by buying the Rovers for Liz.

But things go from bad to worse as a staff member presses the alarm, alerting the police. Jim will then turn the whole situation into a hostage situation, his ransom is Liz, he wants to talk to her one last time before being sent down.

He tells Liz that he has made a big mistake, then reveals he wants to turn the gun on himself.

I have to say I wasn't expecting this spoiler, but it sounds a brilliant final exit for Jim, and I hope the outcome won't be revealed until it airs, I hope he gets arrested though, because then the door will be left slightly open for the character. Though maybe Charlie Lawson, who plays Jim, wants to close that door for good, he said back in December that he doesn't enjoy the job unlike he used to do anymore, and that he thought the writers had cut Jim's [ahem]'s off.

    Just been reading about this - I don't like it at all, so I don't.

    In the words of the song, I wanted Jim to come back and stay for good this time.

    It's spoilt my lunch, so it has!!

    I hope it's all a load of bollocks but it's just the kind of thing we've been getting lately. seiges, guns, no happy endings for Jim and Liz then...

    I can't see it being a violent storyline, Jim probably goes into it, not wanting to hurt anyone, then soon finds himself caught in a nightmare, kind of sad for the character

    How stupid is this, with Jim's record in the Big Hoose, he would be sent down for years. He isnt dishonest either. Also what is the point of Liz returning, I thought she was to come back with Becky and Steve from their visit to Spain. She is more or less forgotton already.

    I agree Frosty - Liz could quite easily be written out now in her absence - as you say, what is the point of her returning?

    I don't really like the sound of this. Was hoping Jim and Liz would get a happy ending and leave the Street together. And I don't think Jim is that devious and calculating to orchestrate a bank robbery.

    Actually, re-reading this, I don't think Jim will shoot himself, I can see Liz finally admitting she loves him, before he is sent down again

    I wanted Jim and Liz to ride off into the sunset together, not have a robbery with guns everywhere! We need to see SOME happy endings for couples now and then!

    Jim is still as angry as he was back then (He punch Vernon just because he was marrying Liz) somewhere down the line, there's always the chance of him getting violent with her again

    I dunno, I don't see this happening. Sure, Jim could probably still get quite nasty, but this spoiler is beyond a bad way for Jim to exit. Whether for good or not.

    No, I HATE this idea. Jim, despite his temper, was quite a moral bloke. Can't see this at all.
