Samia Smith, who plays Coronation Street's Maria Connor, has separated from her husband Matthew after five years of marriage.
A statement issued on their behalf read: "Coronation Street actress Samia Smith and her husband Matthew have today announced that they have decided to separate after five years of marriage.
This is a mutual decision and there is no one else involved. Samia and Matthew ask that their privacy be respected at this time for the sake of their daughter Freya."
That's very sad news.
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad as they always seemed like a happy family, but I guess you can never tell. Best wishes to Samia.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know why youngsters bother getting married at all these days, most of them seem unable or unwilling to stick to their vows.
ReplyDeleteMe and my other half celebrated 40 years of marriage last November, and not all wedded bliss I can tell you! But we made a commitment to each other and have stuck to it, working out problems along the way. Because basically, we love each other.
It strikes me that if couples separate so easily, then they didn't really love each other in the first place.
Especially sad as they have recently had a child. Dont seem to have much staying power these days, a couple of disagreements and they are off!
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad, and nobody knows what goes on in a marriage but the two people in it! I've read that the average length of marriage for people filing for divorce in 5 years... and unfortunately, having a baby is a stressful time, and can bring out conflict.
ReplyDeleteRebecca in TO..
Sad news. I don't think we can judge them though, as who knows what their personal circumstances are.
