The worst ever Corrie couple?

Now that we're approaching the fatal 50th and we've got Molvin rising like a ghastly phoenix from the ashes for a (hopefully) final flourish, not to mention Nick and Leanne (oh dear - it's so horrible I'll just leave it at "not to mention Nick and Leanne..."), it set me to wondering about which might be the most awful ever Corrie coupling.
Me, I'd go for the disturbing "Dev 'n' Deirdre". It's been etched on my mind for years and it won't go away. I'd put Nick and Leanne in their current incarnation as a fairly close second. Then Molvin.
How on earth do they think them up? In the words of Big Jim McDonald - I'll tell you this and I'll tell you no more - the script-writing boffins at Corrie Towers have got some twisted minds! So they do!

  1. I never ever liked Liz and Vernon. Part of me is always pulling for Liz & Jim to get back together and I really disliked the Vernon character. I was pretty happy to see him go.

  2. Nick and Leanne really is very horrible. Anyone else find it a bit strange how Leanne was so mortified and disgusted with herself after they'd slept together once, and then they did it again, and suddenly she seems up for a full-on affair, with no qualms at all?

  5. Deirdre and Dev were certainly a very disturbing pair but i wouldn't have classed them as a "couple" when really, it was just a drunken one night stand, both feeling sorry for themselves.

As far as a proper couple, i'd go with Molvin as the worst one. Liz and Vernon were horribly mismatched, i'll agree there and the current Nick and Leanne are awful as well. Another horrible couple were Charlie and Tracy. While they might have seemed a match made in hell, it was obviously too volatile and look where it ended! Gail and Joe were pretty bad too, he was a whining, whinging loser and she deserved far better.

  6. As others have said, Deidre and Dev was a one night stand. I never could understand Deidre and Samir, they just didn't "click" for me.

  7. 1. Molly & Kevin (boring, no chemistry)
    2. Frankie & Jamie (all kinds of wrong)
    3. Gina & Joe (completely ruined Gina for me)

  8. The worst couple EASILY is Graham and Tina. A ridiculous way to kill off the personalities of two interesting characters

  9. For me it was Maureen and Reg Holdsworth. I would sit with my hands half over my eyes, praying that the scriptwriters wouldn't make her kiss him. He made my flesh crawl!

  13. Oh, gawd! All of the above! I had forgotten about some of them, now I wash to wash my brain of them! Good topic, and you have to wonder if the writers have a special name for this type of coupling. The Yuck Factor?
