Charles Lawson opens Corrie photo exhibition

Charles Lawson, who plays Coronation Street's Jim McDonald, is pictured holding Matilda Lambert, Bryan Mosley’s great-grandaughter, in front of his portrait as shopkeeper Alf Roberts.

Charles stepped in for actress Sue Nicholls (Audrey) to open a special photography exhibition in Shipley yesterday to celebrate the long-running TV soap.  He unveiled ‘Alf’s Hat’ at Shipley Focus’d, in Market Square.  The exhibition displays behind-the-scenes images of the cast of Coronation Street wearing the trademark trilby hat worn by their late co-star and Shipley man, Bryan Mosley, whose character was Alf Roberts.

Miss Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts, had originally been due to open the exhibition but was called away at the last minute by Coronation Street bosses for extra filming.

The exhibition runs until the end of December and is open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Entry is free. Full details.
