Breaking
news this morning from ITV, announcing that Beverly Callard has decided to call it a day. She will be exiting in the New Year and will be persuing new projects. She's been on Coronation Street as Liz McDonald on and off for 21 years, and is one of my favourites. I'm hoping with the return of Jim this fall, that Liz and Jim can finally make that chemistry work again and go off into the sunset together. Beverly herself has had a rough time with her
health in recent years and is looking forward to new challenges and a wedding to her long time love, Jon McEwan. We at Blog Towers wish her all the best!
This is terrible news. Obviously if it's her decision and what she wants for herself, then it will be for the best, but she will be a huge, huge loss to Corrie. Gutted.
ReplyDeleteI hope they send her off with big Jim, so they do. I'm gutted too. Another good one bites the dust. Who'll run the Rovers now?
ReplyDeleteStill, at least it leaves the way clear for bigger storylines for Kim Marsh as Michelle. *koff*
ReplyDeleteBite your tongue! ;)
ReplyDeleteWith Steve and Becky running the pub, i expect Becky will be front and centre as landlady now. She won't have Michelle back i don't think.
I am really sorry Liz is going, she is one of my favourites. PLEASE PLEASE dont assume me me me Michelle can take her place. I also would like her to go off and start a new life with Big Jim, so I would.
ReplyDeleteBecky can't be a landlady can she? She has a criminal record, as does Steve
ReplyDeleteBig loss to Corrie though
Liz is one of my favourite characters. I will miss her! Agree that sending her off with Jim would be a great ending!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! Becky as landlady? God help us! Both the Corner Shop and the Rovers will be unbearable to watch.
ReplyDeleteI only hope that they finally let Liz and Jim go off together to lead a happy life offscreen, although I fear otherwise.
Awww! What a shame! One of my favourites too. Shall miss the zig-zag necklace big time.
ReplyDeleteHope that Bev Callard is happy with her decision and it all works out well for her.
There will be a tear in my eye on the day she leaves.
The end of an era for me. The firsts episode I ever watched was their arrival on the street and they have always. Like the rest of you, I hope she and Jim finally get back together but leave with a door open for a return in the furure.
ReplyDeleteThe end of an era for me. The firsts episode I ever watched was their arrival on the street and they have always seemed like a real family. Like the rest of you, I hope she and Jim finally get back together but leave with a door open for a return in the furure.
ReplyDelete@Digger, ACKKKK!!!! ha ha
ReplyDeleteAll that, and the wonderful pairing of Liz, Dierdre and a bottle of red. Those are my favorite scenes.
Jim is a little before my time, and on his visits was not impressed, but I'll go with the majority. How 'bout Leanne as landlady, esp. after the tram destroys The Joinery?
Oh yes Leanne could be the licensee/landlady. Becky coudn't hold the license though she could still be manager if need be. The name over the door has to be someone without a record. I could see Steve taking on Leanne who has some experience but Becky sure wouldnt' be happy about it. Ooh it would be a good time to bring Andy back from Spain, wouldn't it? He could also be the name over the door and manage the bar.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame she's leaving again - she was always a good bridge between the past and the present. I always loved her friendship with Deirdre. I remember when she briefly lodged at the Barlows - Blanche's comments were hilarious! Perhaps this gives a good opportunity for new personnel behind the Rovers bar...
ReplyDeletemaybe she's tired squeezing into Liz' wardrobe ;)
ReplyDeleteNo, I will really miss her... Liz and Steve are great as mother and son, and she's a fantastic character. Let's hope that they write her off in style..
Rebecca in TO
i dont like the charcter much i think she treats steve like a child but good luck to bev she seems nice in interviews ive seen her do
ReplyDeleteSad to hear this, I will miss her character a lot...especially in the Rovers, where she has often been a tonic to the endless Steve and Becky storylines.
ReplyDeleteHope she gets a good exit, and all the best to Beverly.
I wish her all the very best in life. She certainly deserves it after all she's been through with her mental health issues.
