It’s breakfast at the Websters after the fallout of Hayley and Roy’s wedding and Rosie insists that she could do her sisters PR against the lesbian allegations. Sophie’s wondering how this is now about Rosie. Sally figures that Claire is making nasty accusations because she’s nutters. When Sally and Rosie leave, Kev apologizes to her for what they said. Kevin says she might be confused, but Sophie insists she’s in love with a girl. Sophie doesn’t want her mum to know since she feels that Sally will just make her life miserable and she doesn’t want to stress her out. Kev insists that Sally would be more upset that she didn’t trust her, but he says he’ll support her.
Sophie finds Sian in the back ginnel and tells her she won’t kiss her. Sophie admits to Sian how she told her dad it was true. Sian is angry and thinks that her father will kill her now that their secret is out. Sophie says she knows her dad will tell her mum and when he does, she probably won’t be able to see Sian again. Sian says that she can visit her grave after her father kills her. Ryan comes by and tells them congratulations since the cat is out of the bag. Sian and Sophie figure this’ll just get worse and worse and the street is like a goldfish bowl. Sian thinks they need to run away together, and Sophie nods in agreement since it’s the only way they can stay together.
Dev and Sunita are back from the hospital and Claire asks how they’re doing. Sunita gets angry at Claire for trying to pass the buck onto two teenagers, since she should have been watching Aadi. Dev accuses Claire of not even being worried about Aadi but just trying to save her own neck. Sally sees them there and comes to yell at Claire also telling her that perhaps she should sue the NHS since she’s still not a full shilling. Claire is upset and at home in her pyjamas. Ashley reminds her that it’ll all blow over. Claire figures she could win a nobel peace prize and she’d still be loopy Claire who tried to kill her baby.
Later, in the garage, Kev tells Sally that Claire was right – Sian is more than just Sophie’s mate. Sally stands there open-mouthed at this reveal. What is she going to do? Sophie is at home packing her bags and Rosie wonders why she’s running away. Sophie tells Rosie that the rumours were true and if she stays around there, that their mum is going to split them up. Rosie goes into it about why Sophie didn’t tell her and tries to be supportive by emptying her purse for her sister. Sophie goes into tears about how her sister and mum made fun of her and Rosie apologizes. Sophie tells Rosie to tell their parents not to worry and that she’ll be fine. Meanwhile, in the pub, Sally thinks that Sophie is just “confused” and wonders why she confided in Kevin. Sally says she doesn’t think that lesbians are nasty, and that she loves Mary Queen of Shops is a lesbian, and she loves her. The teen lovers are on the bus at this point though, and they think they will have to get waitressing jobs and such to survive, but they can do it. Sally and Kev come home to Rosie who gives them a letter from Sophie saying she’d run away. Sally tells Kev that they’ve got to find her.
Liz is upset with Becky about getting Michelle sacked, but Becky insists that Michelle went after “our Kylie” – you know, Liz’s son’s sister-in-law. Liz insists that Michelle’s stopping regardless of Becky yanking his chain. Later, in the back yard Kylie notices Steve’s motorbike while having a fag with Liz. Liz tells her how Steve had a mid-life crisis and Kylie looks interested. Becky takes Kylie into town for some nice clothes so she can try and get her kids back.
Apparently, the proper attire for getting your kid back is a shirt that looks like a piece of lingerie. Is this Becky’s version of demure? Kylie shows off her top to Ryan in the cafe, who thinks it’s “nice” or “whatever.” Kylie figures the shirt says “vicar’s wife” – oh hardly. Kylie doesn’t see how the right top will convince social services she’s a good mother. Mary walks into the cafe and sees Becky who teases her about how “forensics” are dusting for “big fat fingerprints” on the train situation, not that Roy and Hayley mind.
Later, Liz has a fag outside with Steve and Liz gives him hell for leaving her alone behind the bar. Liz tells him that he needs to set Becky straight about Michelle. Liz notices that Steve’s bike is gone and Liz says “flaming Kylie.” Kylie and Becky return from shopping and Steve tells them that Liz thinks Kylie knicked his bike since it’s gone now. Becky goes out to see Liz and to confront her about the bike. Liz tells Kylie that her eyes were like saucers when she saw that bike. Becky said that Kylie was with her all afternoon, and she think she would have noticed. Kylie tells Steve she didn’t rob his bike. Meanwhile, later, she gets “New Slug” to pay her for the bike. Looks like we’ve got a bit of trouble on our hands after all.
Nick is fawning all over Natasha and she tells him that she’s a bird brain and almost missed her hospital scan. She hands over Fiz’s scan photo as her own and Nick is delighted to see a photo of what he thinks is his baby. He says he’s gutted they weren’t there together, but is still delighted. Fiz watches over the road as this exchange happens and looks suspicious. When Nick leaves, Fiz asks to take a look at her scan, but Natasha hides it away. Fiz finds it and asks why she stole her scan. Natasha says she was desperate since she needed it to show Nick since she WAS pregnant, but isn’t anymore. Natasha figures that any day now she’ll be up the duff and can fudge with dates and bob’s your uncle. Fiz insists that she’s got to tell Nick and that it might not be as bad as she thinks.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sally: “There are no dungarees in this house, thank you very much!”
- I think Kylie’s great, goading the men on and all. Especially with Ryan and that shirt in the cafe!
- Becky telling Mary that “forensics” are all over the train switch dusting for “big fat fingerprints.” As Mary looks worried!
- When Steve won’t take sides, Liz: “Such a wuss…” Becky: “Pathetic…”
- Mary stuffing her face with pastries on the bench and Natasha saying “Go on girl, life’s too short, eh?” and Mary responding with, “mostly, I think it’s too long!”
LOWLIGHTS
- Rosie: “Everyone at that wedding thinks I have a lesbian sister.” Sophie: “How is this now about you?” That Rosie!
- Kylie for taking advantage and stealing Steve’s bike. Although, what did we expect?
- Why didn’t Rosie try to stop her sister from running away? If she was so supportive…
- I know I’ve said it before, but Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) is such a bad actress, especially in comparison to Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster)
- Natasha: “Any day now, I could get pregnant.” This is insane.
You know, i think Sian really is a bad influence on Sophie!
ReplyDeleteKylie, Kylie, Kylie. Oh boy, another high profile low class loser gets off the bus and jumps in front and center. Petty criminal, good, we don't have enough of them on the street. Gobby - yes, we need that to fill the silence when Michelle & Tina are away. She makes Eddie Windass look like a, oh, never mind, I guess you know where I stand. You know, writers, there are a few other new characters. THE NEW DOCTOR??? Izzy's Katie? The Barlow Boys!!!
ReplyDelete@Tvor, I respectfully disagree with you about Sian. Really, they've been friends forever, they realized they're in love and all they've done is meet in secret, kiss and go to church. Sian's done nothing worse or different than if she were a boyfriend and the Websters disapproved of the relationship. If Sian were a guy, Sally'd be over the moon with such a well mannered, clean cut, church going choice, and maybe even supportive of the strained relations with her parents.
I don't mean that Sian's a bad influence regarding their relationship, i meant that it was Sian's idea for them to run away. Sophie seemed likely to stay and face her family since she wanted to tell the truth ages ago, but Sian was afraid of her father and talked Sophie into running.
