Kym Marsh goes butch

Kym Marsh, who plays Coronation Street's Michelle Connor, has been photographed for a gay and lesbian exhibition.

Kym joined celebrities including Patsy Kensit, and Graham Norton to pose for a gay charity shoot. "The pictures are about gay stereotypes and my picture shows a strong woman," she said. "I have lots of gay friends and was delighted to be involved."

The photo was taken by Manchester celebrity photographer Rachel Joseph.

  2. "Michelle" should be feeling pretty proud; she's a close runner up to Betty Williams in pub popularity!

  4. Yes, but, erm ... she's NOT gay! Does she have to crash EVERY event?
And if we want to talk about gay stereotypes, Sean Tully is the very stereotype of gay stereotypes!

  5. There's a difference between "strong" and "desperate".

She should learn that strong women do not wear boy-toy clothes, stupidarsespike heels and supermarket bling.

These trivialise any woman, and make her vulnerable too.

  6. I was in two minds as to whether to post this or not as every time I put something on the blog abuot KM the comments are less than positive... so I guess I'll take my cue from these comments and leave her off the blog until and unless she does somethng worthwhile :-)

  7. Where are the people who voted for her to come in second in the "Fairest Barmaid" contest?
    They must appreciate her character.

I'm guessing it's the "gay connection" some object to, like with the character of Sean.

I don't understand why their characters are picked on, picked apart; both actors portray their characters well and I like Sean, he's amusing and I'd miss him if he left.

Now Becky is another story; liked her when she first appeared, and have steadily come to dislike her character and too frequent appearances.
In fact, of all the characters, she's the only one I really dislike!

  8. Leaving aside Kym Marsh, I must object to this comment:

"strong women do not wear boy-toy clothes, stupidarsespike heels and supermarket bling."

Strong women wear whatever they want. You don't get to decide their attire and neither does anyone else.

It's a stereotype to think that 'tough' clothes make for a strong woman inside, just as less obtrusive attire covers a weak woman.

  10. This is not how a "butch" lesbian would traditionally dress. Looks like a "lipstick" lesbian to me. Maybe she's supposed to look "femme" on the outside and "butch" on the inside. Either way she always looks good to me.
