Kylie Turner, Becky McDonald's half sister has been cast, reveals Digital Spy. She'll be played by actress Paula Lane - who left drama school only two years ago.
A show source revealed: "Despite only sharing their mother's blood, Kylie's every bit as full-on as Becky ever knew how to be. Kylie has all the characteristics of the Becky we've seen glimpses of over the years - it's like holding up an age-defying mirror. It doesn't take her long to set her sights on Irish barman Ciaran, either. She's a little firecracker, definitely one to watch!"
Paula began filming as Kylie at Corrie last week and she'll make her screen debut in August. But who will play her son (and Becky's nephew)?
This will only mean more screentime and storylines for Becky, who I am completely sick to death of. What is even more irritating is that it seems like the sister will be just like Becky. Corrie doesn't need another annoying chav. At least it could have been interesting if she was the complete opposite. I was hoping that the new producer would not be so obsessed with the character of Becky, it looks like I'm wrong. Please just give the girl her own spin off show and put us all out of our misery.
ReplyDelete*sigh* as much as i like Becky, we don't need two of her. This is just Lauren (Violet's sister) part II and she won't last.
ReplyDeleteBloody hell, I thought it was Kylie Minogue!
ReplyDeleteSo did I, CSC! got my hopes up for a minute!
ReplyDeleteWhy not the actresses actual sister? I like Becky (not so much with Steve), but her sister should be at least a bit different. And maybe not so squat looking.
ReplyDeleteBecky has been so completely overused that I just cringe everytime she comes on screen. Dreadful character... but it seems the only way we'll get rid of her is if the "actress" (and I use the word loosely) gets a better offer elsewhere. And now a sister - God help us!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to agree with a lot of these sentiments. I like Becky, but I definitely don't need more of her! I think I've been able to enjoy her up until this whole adoption storyline. Not even sure it's the character's fault - just the writers for letting her storylines DRAG on. I mean, the adoption storyline's technically still not over. It's just.not.interesting. Now, we have a stroppy sister to deal with. And I agree that it'll be just like when Violet's waste-of-space sister came and went. But who knows? Maybe the sister will be more interesting, and Steve will move on?
ReplyDeleteWell, I know I'm in the minority here, but I like Becky & the actress too. There would never be one like her in a US soap. And there have been some really tender scenes with Becky & Steve. He could easily give up on her, but isn't. Not to mention Roy & Hayles.
ReplyDeleteI'll reserve judgment on the half-sis till we see how well they develop her character. If she's to be living in the Rovers, there's a chance of more depth, as opposed to Lauren who seemed to only wander the Street being nasty.
I thought that Katherine Kelly's real sister had been given the role as they looked alike? What happened there then? I am fed up with "feisty" characters that are just obnoxious and mouthy and I too am not looking forward to more OTT behaviour from Becky. She is fine in small doses but the producer obviously likes her more than the viewers do!
ReplyDeleteI think Katherine Kelly's real sister, Grace, is still training in the US, so maybe she wasn't available in time. Have to say though, the actress they've gone for does bear a passing resemblance.
ReplyDeleteShe looks about 15.. whats she doing knocking down the vodka... and a 4 year old kiddd???
ReplyDeleteWas Paula Lane ever in Eastenders?
ReplyDeletewhere have i seen her before? cos i have...
ReplyDeleteBecky is the best character in Corrie, so shut up. And she's hot, and so is her sister. It'd be ace watching them lez it off wearing velour tracksuits. Awesome.
