Brooke and Sacha on Sophie and Sian's big kiss

It's been all over the tabloids and media for days and it's hotting up today with two big pieces about next Sunday's budding romance between Sian and Sophie. They're making a big deal about the first lesbian kiss on Corrie, which comes over 6 years after the first boy-on-boy kiss between Nick and Todd. Brooke Vincent says over here that it was easier than her first on-screen kiss with a boy as she and Sacha Parkinson are good friends. Sacha agrees, over here, but she's concerned about audience reaction after the big buildup.

Sian and Sophie's relationship will build slowly and they'll keep it from their friends and families at first but expect fireworks when Sian's volatile dad finds out (at least, that's my guess). Oddly enough, I reckon Sally and Kevin will get over their initial shock and be supportive though I expect we'll have some typical Kevin hollering and fuss first. Rosie is expected to be nothing but supportive which is nice to see after all the past sibling rivalry the two have experienced.

  1. seen it before in other shows... Corrie's not going to grab the ratings with this... boring...

What about international adoption for Steve and Becks with Liz dead set against it: "charity starts at home". I know a woman and her husband who adopted not one but two adorable baby girls from China. Although most of her family were supportive, it also raised a lot of angst about racial/cultural issues...

  2. Wow, Sophie really a les! I thought that she had found the Lord. But doesn't the Lord frown on such unnatural activities? even dispatching the poor unfortunates to the depths of Hell to pay for their transgressions. Or maybe the Lord made an exception in Sophie's case as she is so cute, that is of ccourse until she became a les.

  3. Not looking forward to this, as has been said before too East Enders. Corrie has charm that EE doesnt, lets not go down the same route. I am actually begining to go off Sophie, find her very brash of late. Where is Sally by the way?

  4. Are you people serious? Because other soaps have had gay relationships, Coronation Street shouldn't? If Corrie never did anything other soaps had already done, it wouldn't exist. But of course, we can have 10000 "Who's the daddy?" storylines, or 10000 murderers living on the street, but we can't have more than one or two gay people! Ugh, ridiculous.

  5. I think it's refreshing having a lesbian storyline. Sophie's pretty perfect for it i think. Brooke is a good little actress and her being Christian will add another level of inner angst.

  6. But doesn't watching two women, or for that matter two men, kissing each other just make your skin crawl.

  7. Does watching an african or an asian couple kiss make your skin crawl too?

Just because you are homophobic or racist doesn't mean the rest of the world shares your views.

  8. There's nothing unnatural about being gay. I won't tolerate any homophobic comments on this blog, or racist or sexist comments. Any more comments of this sort will be deleted. Some people need to get themselves a life.
