Sally Webster's apostrophe mystery

Over at the fab Grammar Blog there's a debate as to whether the errant apostrophe in Sally Webster's birthday card to Kevin was deliberate, or not. What do eagle-eyed, pedantic Coronation Street fans think?

At first, I thought this was deliberate and in keeping with the character of Sally Webster. But then I remembered something... wasn't Sally the one to point out that the apostrophe was in the wrong place on the original Webster's Autos sign and the sign had to be changed to Websters' Autos?

That, and the capital A on always... Maybe Sally needs more English lessons, but not with John Stape perhaps!

  2. I reckoned it's just a misguided Granada prop person.

  3. If I remember correctly it was Rosie 'Oakhill educated' Webster that pointed out the apostrophe, not Sally.

As you can imagine, Sally went to town pointing out all of the grammatical possibilities.

  5. Oh, poor Sally! Can't even write a loving card without getting chastised for her grammar! lol.

    It's the thought that counts!

  6. My vote is for the Granada prop person ... inappropiate apostrophes abound in our family and I try to keep quiet about them.
