Keith Duffy returns to Coronation Street?

Boyzone singer Keith Duffy, who played barman Ciaran McCarthy is returning to Corrie, says The Sun. The paper says that Keith has been in comeback talks with producers this week and the ITV Corrie site on twitter recently said he'd been spotted in the green room at Coronation Street too, so it's looking pretty positive.

The Sun says that Corrie writers want to bring Ciaran back to team up with old pal Peter Barlow on his gastro-pub venture to rival the Rovers. Ladies' man Ciaran could also make a play for ex-girlfriend Sunita (Shobna Gulati) who is also returning to Weatherfield later this year.

The official ITV Corrie site say that while Keith Duffy is in talks with them, nothing's been confirmed yet as to his return.

  1. I dont particularly want Kieran back, Keith Duffy was quite a poor actor imo and we have done the him and Sunita thing. Corrie needs to move forward and introduce fresh new characters not dragging old and not particularly interesting ones back.

  2. Ordinarily i'd say that might be quite nice to have him and Sunita back if it wasn't going to put Dev into a tizzy of moaning, weeping and patheticness over Sunita seeing her ex which is probably what's going to happen. Mind you, i always liked Sunita with Ciaran rather than Dev anyway so it would serve him right!

  3. I enjoyed Ciaran so wouldn't mind seeing him back on the street. Now if does come back, I'd love for him to be working when I'm in Weatherfield early 2010!!

  4. Needed to satisfy my curiosity, living in Australia we have "X Factor" on at the moment and Boyzone were here to help judge. I thought one looked familiar and now realise I was right, it's Cieran from Coro. Love having him back, but never knew the connection, talented! Love Coro, never miss an episode here in Oz, keep up the great work and story lines. Vicki from Queesnland
