Platt prodigal son returns

The ITV Corrie site broke the news today that Nick Tilsley is returning to Weatherfield!

By the end of the year, Gail will have her first-born son back within reach of the apron strings again on Coronation Street, albeit with a new head. The last Nick was played by Adam Rickett who is now happily ensconced in New Zealand on a soap there, Shortland Street, so the casting call has gone out for a hunky man about the age of 30.

Oddly, the news article says that David never got on with his older brother but that's not true, is it? David adored his older brother but really didn't know him very well. Nick spent quite a few years in Canada while David was growing up and then left the area after a brief return. His exes, Leanne and Maria are still around, of course, and then there's a few other randy young women that will certainly give him the glad eye. (Yes, Rosie, I'm looking at you, and you, too, Mrs. Molly Dobbs! Trollops, the pair of ye's!)

  1. Superb news! I am doubly delighted really. The recasting of the character is a good move. As much as i liked Adam Rickett the charater had/has masses of potential and maybe a new actor can realise this better than Adam did/could. Recasting can work quite well with 'adult' characters as well as child ones. The recent change of actress for Helen Connor's character proves this, i find her character much more believable than she ever was before. Nick's character has a long way to go and i am really glad that he is being brought back, hopefully Tina O'Brien will return as Sarah as well with a new actress for Bethany and the Platts will be a force to be reckoned with once again.

  2. Ooh this should be good. Bet Tony won't be keen to have a hunky ex of Maria's around the place though!

  3. Hurrah...hopefully they'll cast an actor this time,rather than a model / singer / Tory twit.

  4. Admittedly, I was a bit of a sucker for Adam Rickett. I started watching Corrie when I was a teen in the mid-late 90's, and the guy looked like a Backstreet Boy.

Good to see he's doing well, looking forward to what the New Nick will bring out!
