David Platt gets beaten to a pulp

Coronation Street spoiler of the week - so far, and it's only Monday, folks - is that David Platt will be beaten to a bloody pulp by a mystery attacker in a gripping Corrie whodunnit. So says The Sun.

David will be bludgeoned in a back alley and left bleeding and unconscious this summer. But he has made so many other enemies, the police won't know where to start hunting his attacker. The main suspects are Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas), ex-girlfriend Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan), his mum's boyfriend Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale) and Len Windass (Conor Ryan) - Gary's uncle.

  1. Tina??? ludicrous. Len ... most likely and is the "expendable crew member" at this point.

  3. Now now Nurse Florence. David is going to have to do something soon to redeem himself, this bad boy business is becoming a tiny bit tiresome now.

    - Yes, if it's a graphic re-enactment of David Platt's first pasting. I found that scene where Gary Windarse psychotically continues to pummel David Platt to a pulp, even after David covers his face and broken nose in total defeat, to be very disturbing viewing for a pre-watershed soap - and was one of the most graphically violent scenes I've ever watched on a soap.

The sheer hysterical violence perpetrated by Gary as if to punch his 'victim' to death, despite Tina trying to pull him off, was sickening and unsettling stuff.

    - And hey! I'll watch and enjoy all the martial arts films going with their laughable 'cracks' and 'thuds' as bones break.

As long as the beating is in the mould of all other big soap punch-up's, ie., like a 'John Wayne' punch-up, then It's okay - but an almost documentary-like actuality of a blood-lusting hysterical thug relentlessly punching a defeated person much smaller (and less physically able than themselves), slithering down the wall without any further defence, however much that person 'deserves' it - then no.

    - Leastways not on a soap; or is that the programme makers way of announcing it's not a soap but a 'Continuing Drama' - hence the 'edgy' bloody and violent scenes, far removed from what you'd expect to see in a 'soap'?

P.S. And yes, there can only be one person in the frame for David Platt's second beating:'uncle' Len.
    - Now there's someone I'd enjoy seeing on the receiving end of a beating - at the hands of Joe of course!

  5. Gawd...

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if David Platt didn't pay someone to beat him just to frame someone else again. Most likely to frame Jason, since Jason has been fooling around with his beloved Tina.

I'm tired of these terrible David plots.

Danny - so it's wrong of me to "cheer" over David getting a pasting, but you'll happily watch Len get one??? Sheesh.
