Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 28th April

DAISY - CORRIE - ITV

Christina almost gets caught by Daniel with her burner phone and Jenny's secret stash of dough is revealed by Rita to Daisy. It was always going to come out - Rita was never going to keep her trap shut. She's only ever been one "Now look here, lady" from spilling the beans. Daniel does discover the 2 phones and Daisy confesses their plan. Daniel is unimpressed, saying he doesn't like her "scheming, lying, manipulative side". Daniel's got a point - once a catfisher, always a catfisher. Daisy and Jenny row about the pub although it hardly seems worth arguing about given that the place is set on fire every few years and it went bankrupt not too long ago. Daisy then burns her bridges with Daniel as well by refusing to give up her plan.

Talking of characters who are leaving, after making up with Eilash, George is again in Eileen's bad books by not cleaning up some salad dressing, which she then slips in and George won't take her to the hospital because he has a meeting. To be honest, this seems like a worse crime than telling Brian not to go out with Julie.

DEBBIE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Debbie is given a formal diagnosis of vascular dementia and a leaflet (shmeaflet) but she tells Carl that she doesn't want to tell the rest of the family yet. Carl is upset but tells Abi that it's Kev's cancer distressing him. She tells him she likes him (but not like-likes him); unfortunately he gets the wrong end of the stick and kisses her. Meanwhile, a woman with dementia approaches Debbie outside the hospital and she sees a glimpse of her future and calls it off with Ronnie even though he's just bought Yasmeen's house for them both.

Lauren receives some mystery texts re: the van thievery whilst Betsy refuses to go to college. To be fair, I had been shot in the arm, I'd be milking it big time, but in Betsy's case it just seems an excuse to behave even more brattily. "Sometimes I think Carla doesn't like me," she tells her mum. It's hardly surprising, is it.

Monday 28 April 2025

CARL GETS THE WRONG SIGNALS FROM ABI Carl calls at No.13 and Abi senses that something is bothering him. Carl makes out that he’s worried about Kevin’s cancer and wishes they’d spent more time together. Abi assures Carl that he’s a decent bloke and despite their rocky start, she’s pleased that he’s here. But when Carl pulls her in for a kiss how will Abi react?

WILL DANIEL FIND OUT THE TRUTH? Daisy is a little suspicious when Christina refuses to get rid of her burner phone and let Jenny and Dom message each other directly. She is distracted however when Jenny reveals she has inherited some money from some shares Daisy’s dad had bought in her name and plans to invest in Dom’s company. When Daniel calls at the Rovers and finds Christina with two phones. Will he suspect anything?

DEBBIE’S FEARS ARE COMFIRMED Debbie swerves an invitation for lunch with Ronnie as she is going to the hospital with Carl who makes out they are going to a meeting. The neurologist confirms to Debbie that she has vascular dementia, but as long as she leads a healthy lifestyle, she can carry on as normal for the time being. A shocked Debbie makes it clear to Carl that she wants to keep her diagnosis to herself for now and she’s not ready to tell the family. Debbie is upset to see what the future holds when a woman with dementia approaches her outside the clinic. Back at home an excited Ronnie tells her Ronnie calls at the hotel and excitedly reveals that he’s put in an offer on No.6. How will Debbie react?

ELSEWHERE Betsy refuses to go back to college. Carla is sure she is secretly playing Lisa, especially when Lisa says she is going to take some time off work to look after her. Meanwhile Lauren confesses to Bobby that she took the van and let Betsy take the rap for it and now she is getting mysterious threatening texts. When Eileen slips in the kitchen and has to go A&E she is less than impressed when George asks Brian to take her as he is too busy.
