Liz McDonald's final scenes revealed

There's a Coronation Street spoiler in today's Sun that reveals Liz McDonald's last scenes on Coronation Street.

The paper says that Liz will  finish her shift, lovingly place the bar towels over the beer pumps and slowly put on her coat. Viewers will see Liz walk slowly to the door and pause for a final time before flicking off the light.

Liz runs out on Steve to start a new life in Spain after failing to buy the Rovers for herself. And she goes without saying goodbye to ex-husband Jim McDonald - who is jailed for 20 years for a failed bid to rob a bank to get money for the pub. The ex-squaddie gets such a long stretch due to his conviction for drug-dealer Jez Quigley's murder in 2000. He begs Liz to wait for him. She agrees, but after leaving the jail she secretly quits the country.

Aw... no... I was hoping for a big fat Liz and Jim reunion in which they both ride off into the Salford sunset together, so I was.

    Liz who?

I think we would have cared more if she hadnt already been absent for months. Sounds like the scenes will be pretty mawkish, she should have just stayed in Spain.

  3. Is says a lot that the producer wasn't prepared to give Liz and Jim the happy ending that most viewers had always hoped for. Shame.

  4. That really sucks. And why repeat the Bet Lynch storyline? Will taxi driver Lloyd or Eddie be the last one to see her as Don Brennan was for Bet? No imagination.

  5. I don't mind an exit like this for her

  6. Does Steve even know she is going then, I wonder? And will they part on good terms or bad? Important points to ponder if Steve and Becky want to continue having cheap holidays with her in Spain...

  7. Steve will probably understand, Becky will moan, somehow forgetting it's her own selfish fault that they're all in this mess

  8. Wow that's sad. And I really like Liz as a character. Although...I have not seen her on the street for quite some time. I really feel that the street is missing someone like her though. It feels somewhat empty of character right now.

  9. Catching up on all the news ir strikes me that Coronation Street has become SO lame...anyone agree?

I think it's time to take a break from Corrie for a while...

Oh Flaming Nora!, me too wanting Liz and Jim to walk off into the sunset, to lie on the beach in Spain, sending the occasional post-card to Steve and Becky. Guess they don't want Jim back at all on Corrie if he gets a 20 year sentence.......I'm not liking this storyline at all.

  11. The Liz character left before and came back too, so she could come back again. But tossing Jim into jail pretty much ends any hope of him back at all. Really hoped they would march of into the sunset together. I really wish the producers would stop getting rid of so many characters so quickly and close together.

  12. Getting 20 yrs doesn't mean Jim won't be back. I mean ... hey, look at Tracey! Another dumb plotline.

And why in hell would he pull a robbery for Steve? And IF that's what happens ... then we have to put up with Becky moaning/whining that it's all her fault, blah blah blah.

What harm could it have done to have Liz and Jim go off together? Nice neat happy package ending!

  13. Another sensational storyline seems to me that the producers are so desperate to win awards
