ITV Studios managing director Lee Bartlett has revealed his ambition to launch Corrie in the US, it says here. Coronation Street has never sold to the US as a network show, but Mr Bartlett said yesterday that he wants to make the last 50 years of Corrie's archive available there on-demand.

Didn't they try selling Corrie to US networks many years ago?
ReplyDeleteIt would certainly be a dream come true. We get ours every other week via the in laws (thank goodness!) who DVR it and send it over. Sure would be easier just to have it here...
ReplyDeleteCorrie was on the USA Network (cable) back in the very early 80's
ReplyDeleteI don't know how long it was on as we didn't have cable then.
I will be overjoyed to be able to get it here and will pay whatever they want.
I think it would go over very well here..even better than EastEnders which is VERY popular.
This is going to be huge if it happens in the States.

Absolutely! I think Corrie will take this country by storm. EastEnders is always a big draw for those PBS stations that carry it..it will be left in the dust by the Street.
I lived in the states many years ago and made do with EastEnders but having Corrie would have been the dog's nuts.
