Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street, is nominated for Best Actor in this year's British Soap Awards. If you haven't voted yet, please do - vote here!
He talks to Huffington Post about wanting to win the award but reckons he faces stiff competition from Danny Miller in Emmerdale. Also, he says that David's revenge plot storyline "was too long ago and I think you have to be right at the forefront of people’s memories to win anything."
Asked if he prefers playing David when he’s being an evil villain, Jack says: ""Every director tries to get you to pull the ‘Evil David Look’ because they want it in their block and it becomes frustrating because you say, ‘well I know you want it in your episodes and it will look great, but I’ve done it in loads of episodes before yours, and I’ve got another 15 where it’s the same look so I’m trying to mix it up and do something else.’ So that’s why I tend not to like being evil for too long."
And he also hinted that David will be helping Bethany out in the grooming storyline too. "I think the way he’s involved is obvious. He finds out that something has been going on with Bethany... and he acts in a way that David sometimes does."
Jack is nominated for the Best Actor ward at the 2017 British Soap Awards. The ceremony takes place on Saturday 3rd June and you can vote here

I am so glad that David is going to be involved in helping Bethany. She is not only his niece but she was close to Kylie.
I think Jack is spot on with the 'evil' look....I love to see him smile, or look amused....but when the evil look comes out you know he means business.
I also agree that when it comes to awards the most recent storylines stand a better chance....but to Jack Shepherd/Corrie fans...we will never forget his grief stricken cry when Kylie died in his arms. It is definitely in the top ten Corrie moments for me. :-)
I'm glad that Jack P S gets fed up with the look. It feels like actors discover a mannerism or an action and the directors do it to death: Tracy's gurn, Simon's arms-around-the waist, Michelle's arm-folding. His comments make him sound as though he takes his acting seriously (which I'm sure he does). So many actors say they prefer being a baddie because it's more interesting but being a good guy doesn't have to be boring.
No disrespect but isn't Danny Miller being nominated for his role in Emmerdale?
Yeah, that's what it says. Think you might've read it wrong
I'm looking forward to seeing 'evil David return to help free his niece from Nathan's clutches.
When David is successful in helping Bethany, perhaps Sarah will treat her brother with more respect than she has been in the past?
Love the character of David...and we don't have to see the look to know that he's got a spark of crazy in him (so many things to list as proof) I really thought we'd see David unleash his inner demon with Callum but he didn't, so it'd be great to see him take Nathan down. He's got some great sarcastic and witty comebacks when chatting with people and I think he's wasted in the Salon
