In next week's Coronation Street we'll see Liz fully support son Steve as he goes ahead with his costly divorce from Michelle.
Inside Soap magazine
reveal that Liz's support goes as far as selling her half of the Rovers and the pub goes up for sale! The picture above shows Liz with a couple of prospective buyers at the bar, while the picture below...
... shows Peter and Toyah listenng in on their conversation. Now what on earth could alcoholic Peter be doing ear-wigging on a conversation about the selling of the Rovers for?
Hmm... I wonder!

I think it would be a shame for Steve & Liz to sell. I can imagine Johnny buying it & Jenny would love to be the landlady.
Alcoholism aside, I think Peter would be a fantastic landlord. He has the community ties and the right personality, kinda like Dougie Ferguson. And we'd get to see more of his brotherly wisdom dispensed. Don't like the idea of a trained counselor working as a barmaid, though, WHEN THERE'S A MEDICAL CENTER AND A COMMUNITY CENTER IN WALKING DISTANCE AND HER EXISTING PRACTICE IS ONLY A SHORT DRIVE! (Really, has she even looked into another position?) It's just the money -- don't die, Ken!
No Liz's place us behind the bar. I don't want to see Peter or Toyah running the place. It's Steve and Liz's pub and Michelle needs to just realise that!
The Rovers needs a double act behind the bar, preferably partners eg. Annie & Jsck, Bet & Alec. Liz and Jim could have worked if the writers had taken it that way, but Steve and mum never quite did it for me. Are they working towards Liz & Peter as a non-romantic couple like Rita & Norris? Might work.
Liz and Peter would be a bit fiery. When Tina was having an affair with Peter and working at the bar, Liz wasn't too keen on Peter and felt he was just using her. She wasn't too nice to him at the time. Maybe it's all water under the bridge now.
I really like the McDonald's owning the bar.....so sad.
Tracy seemed pretty keen to get her mitts on the Rovers not long ago... Let's all hope that that dream has fizzled out / or that she's too broke to even comsider it ...
I hope it isn't bought by one of the Connors, the amount of airtime these characters get is just right. They're OK but not good enough to become central.
Since Liz is obviously selling because most buyers wouldn't want half a pub, she may still be landlady if the purchaser turns out to be someone on the street like Eva who could prefer a partnership.
Tracy is too broke, she was only going to get control because Tony had given the McDonald's so much money that if hr suddenly asked for it back, it would be easier for them to hand over the bar than find cash. Ken is holding on to some money Deirdre left for Amy but wouldn't Tracy's murder conviction prevent her from owning a pub anyways?Or was that overturned since she keeps saying it was a miscarriage of justice and that's why she's out?
Someone has suggested Sally and Tim as the new owners. I think this is a hilariously brilliant, Sally would be as snobby as Annie's walker and Tim would be in heaven! Whether they make a go if it would remain to be seen, but they would definitely bring comedy to the forefront again with them at our favourite pub!
Those two would be great. They've had more setbacks in life than they deserve and I'd like to see them in more interesting jobs than the factory floor or window cleaning. They're also very funny and entertaining together.
