I was rather hoping that the recent rumours about Jim McDonald returning to Coronation Street would come true.
Alas, it appears they're false.
A Coronation Street spokesperson has been speaking to OK magazine today, after rumours spread on th'interweb that big Jim was coming back, so he was. Well he's not, so he isn't.
And so Eizabeth remains on her own in the Rovers Return, without a fella to warm her barm cakes. I think it's high time Liz had a new man. What do you think?
Anyway, back to Jim.
The Corrie spokesperson told OK: "He is not returning to the show - he is mentioned in upcoming storylines but does not make an appearance."

Praise the Lord! Common sense has prevailed. Best Corrie news I've heard in a while. Let Liz meet a new guy, but thankfully it's not Jim
There are a lot of viewers out there that really liked Jim - but I say if he can't return then please find her a new fellow to keep her mind occupied and off not being a "grandma" to Leanne's baby. She is acting like a fool and it really isn't pleasant to watch.
I agree with anon at 20.55. I love Liz, she deserves better than the storyline she's getting at the moment. The whole Leanne baby obsession is certainly unpleasant to watch.
Booooo! I love Big Jim.
Oh what?? This is really bad news! I love Jim too, there's so much more life in his character than most. It would've been great to have him back.
Bad move, Corrie bosses!!!
So pleased Jim's not coming back. This character ran his course years ago. He's a bully who does his talking with his fists. His persona wouldn't change after all these years. That's what he does
Absolute rubbish. He is not a bully, disagree with that entirely.
Did he not hit Liz? Did he not threaten and intimidate Peter? He uses his fists. Lots of comments on here about people always shouting and arguing. He was one of the worst for that
I have enjoyed seeing Jim return occasionally, but he was a horrible bully! As for Liz, I wish they would bring back the man who was Dad/Grandad to Amy's friend.
Thank God for that. Can't bear this character.
Jim against Рhelan? I'd рay to watch that! :)
I am absolutely gutted! Really want Jim back on the street permanently.
Why? What does Jim actually bring to Corrie? Nothing. He is so one dimensional. Violence aggression, and bullying only. Also, I really don't think Charlie Lawson is a very accomplished actor. I don't think he could "do" nice if he tried. I think people have forgotten Jim is a convicted armed robber.
Just in your opinion Anon 22:33, just in your opinion. Why does Jim have to "bring" anything? Other than simply being there! I trust you will also remember everyone else's faux pas in the future. They've all got them.
Many are of the opinion that Charles Lawson could act the socks off a great number of the other actors on the street.
