Kym Marsh celebrates 10 years on Coronation Street

With thanks to Corriepedia on twitter for reminding us of this anniversary. Today, ten years ago to the day, marks the first time that we saw Kym Marsh on Coronation Street as Michelle Connor.

Michelle has been a divisive character, historically, here on the Coronation Street Blog. A lot of people like her but just as many would rather have her leave.  I enjoy watching her and feel as if we have seen Michelle develop and grow as a character in the years that she has been in the show.

In this week's Corrie when Michelle and Liz argued in the back room of the Rovers, I felt we saw a turning point for Michelle. She's been through a lot supporting Steve and I hope we'll continue to see the much more stronger Michelle when Steve returns, too.

Kym Marsh reveals that she did think about leaving Coronation Street.  You can read her remarks in an interview with The Mirror here.

I have to disagree, I feel that Michelle has not really developed or revealed much in the ten years she's been on the Street. Still a bit of fluff with crossed arms.

For years I disliked this rather wooden character, but I must say, over the last year or two, her acting skills have improved enormously. Michelle is at her best when she is with Carla.
