We know that Katy is going to leave Weatherfield soon, taking Joseph and going to Portugal with her mother, Linda. This week, Linda will confess to Owen that she still loves him and wants them all to move to Portugal but at the moment, Katy's the only one that takes up her offer. We also know that Ian Puleston-Davies, who plays Owen Armstrong, will be leaving the show but it won't happen just yet.
However, Ian has filmed his last episodes of Coronation Street this week and last night was his leaving do. It took place at a private members' bar at Media City called On the 7th and there are photos in the Manchester Evening News here.
Ian P-D announced last year that he'd be leaving and said he wanted to focus on writing, possibly putting on a new play.
“I have had a fantastic time at Coronation Street and made some great friends. I certainly would neve rule out returning to the role of Owen at some point in the future if I was asked.”
Ian's last scenes won't be shown until May and we don't know what the storyline will be but it will be involved with the drama surrounding the birth of Faye's baby. My guess is he does still have feelings for his ex-wife Linda and he'll follow her to Portugal.

Ian P-S Davies is a very good and well known actor and good luck to him for the future, he wont have any problem moving forward.
However the character of Owen will not be missed. To me he was always the Bully Boy that arranged Big Jim McDonald's beating and was not a nice character. Despite putting him with the Windasses he never really redeemed himself. Now the whole family have really had their day and Anna and Izzy need to go too.
Agree with Frosty that while the actor is excellent, his character won't be missed.
I can see that Anna will stay because of Faye and the baby. Of course, in a soap anything can happen but Faye wouldn't want to leave her dad. That just leaves Izzy and Jake. She really ought to follow the others out to Portugal.
Did they have to make Anna look so stupid in thinking they spoke Brazilian in Brazil? She might not know they speak Portuguese rather than Spanish but she would surely know that Brazilian isn't a language. Probably leading up to Owen and Linda being more of an intellectual match. Ho hum.
For what it's worth,I'll miss Owen and he has become a more interesting character recently. As for Owen being a 'bullyboy' setting thugs on Jim,I thought at the time Jim got his comeuppance for beating up on Verlin on his wedding day to Liz.
Considering her recent behaviour of late, playing martyr after she slept with Phelan to keep Gary out of jail and treating Gary as though he was the 'victim'when Roy assaulted him during a robbery attempt,I don't blame Owen for wanting to leave Anna for Linda as she's demonstrated she'll always put Gary first.
When Ian and Mickey did their Q&A appearance in Canada he said he thought anyone who leaves a role on Corrie is crazy and he would never leave unless made to, so I was rather surprised at this news. Obviously what he said at the appearance wasn't true ...
Anonymous,Perhaps what Ian said was true and he was forced out but is trying save face?Other characters such as Julie and Maddie are also being culled perhaps while Sarah,Bethany and Liz's friend are returning so maybe like Ian those actors are being forced out too to make more room for the Platt family and featuring them in more contrived storylines.
I will miss the role of Owen...I thought he and Anna were a great couple...hopefully he will come back to the cobbles one day...
Actually I will miss him too, the character and the actor. The actor could certainly teach the younger males a thing or two about convincing acting.
Katie is moving to Portugal and taking Joseph? Doesn't Chesney have any say? In real life the father would put up a hell of a fight to keep his child with him.
But then again this is soap land so anything goes. I will not miss either Owen or Katie too bad they aren't taking the increasingly annoying Izzie with them.
