It’s the Weatherfield Fun Run but there aren’t many smiles at the end when Lloyd’s rushed off to t’hospickle after suffering a heart attack.  Julie has to stop during the run for an, er, comfort stop in the woods and Mary supports Dev, a little too heartily if truth be told.   Lloyd’s laid up in hospital but he’s doing ok, having Jenna and Andrea attending to his every need, one of either side of his bed, glaring at each other.  But just what is going on with Andrea?  She’s getting texts and phone calls and disappears without notice.  There’s something going on that she’s not being honest about, not yet.   Steve tells Lloyd he’ll stand by his friend when he’s released from hospital and if Lloyd has to cut down on the booze, fags and pies then he’ll do the same, in support.  It’s a touching scene and Lloyd calls Steve his ‘brother from another mother’.  A nice touch indeed.

The Weatherfield Fun Run was a way for the locals to raise funds for a cancer charity in memory of Hayley.  “It’s Operation H!” Julie tells Gary to which he replied: “Isn’t that what you put on piles?”.

Hayley got a lovely mention this week when a birthday card arrived for her, from someone who wasn’t aware that she’d passed on.   The locals raise a total of over £400 on the Fun Run  but when Julie counts it out at the factory there’s over £100 missing.  Poor Izzy comes clean and reveals she’s taken the money as things are so tight in the Windass house (they are) and she swears she was going to pay it all back (she was). She’s in bits, is Izzy but the factory girls and Sean give her short shrift and it remains to see if Carla will give her the sack.  All that tutting and moralising in the factory was hypocritical to the hilt as every single one of them would have done the same thing in Izzy’s place and she deserves their support.

Over at the Kabin, Dennis tries to woo back Rita but the lady’s not for having Dennis returning.  “I want you out of my life forever,” she tells him although he continues to hang around in hope.   Norris isn’t best pleased that Dennis wants to try again with Rita and confides in Rita that he’ll always have her support.

Tim returns to Sally’s house to pick up his things and the two of them get to talking.  Then they start snogging. Then they start arguing.  But it looks like Tim’s back to stay, making this pairing one of the most likable we’ve had for a while.

In Roy’s Rolls, Anna breaks down and tells Roy something of her dilemma, but not all of it, assuming he’ll judge her for what she did with Phelan.  Roy can see Anna’s in a state over summat and advises her to talk to Owen, which she determines to do.  But when she gets Owen on his own and the chance to talk , she can’t bring herself to mention it, not after he tells her he’s putting the business and the flat up for sale as he’s so broke.  Jason’s dad Tony is interested in taking it all off Owen’s hands for a paltry sum, which Owen turns down, for now anyway.

Peter’s out of rehab this week and little Simon wants nothing to do with him.  Deirdre pops round to see how he is. “Ooh, you look dreadful!” she tells him, before spying the biscuits. “Ooh, look! Jammy Dodgers!”. She’s her mother’s daughter all right.

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week's writers were Jayne Hollinson, Perrie Balthazar, John Kerr, Martin Allen. Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at http://coronationstreetupdates.blogspot.com/2008/11/exclusive-all-current-corrie-writers.html

I really like the Sally and Tim pairing, I think they are good for each other. I hope the writers let it continue on at the level it is for a while and don't feel the need to introduce some high drama. At present, the relationship feels real.

Been watching Pie In The Sky and enjoying Joe Duttine in that, too. Yes, I also like Sally and Tim together. Although I'm super sick of Sophie, she does add good conflict for the couple.

The 'brother from another mother' scene was sweet - until I recalled Lloyd's former intimacy with that particular 'other mother' ...

Kevin's second departure has been good news for Tim and Sally. The story seemed to be going the way of a competition for Sally's affections. Boring. Tim is a great foil for Sally's pretensions. Thank goodness there's one relationship on the Street that doesn't involve cheating and lying.

Quite a good week's episodes, I thought. The fun run stuff was very good.
