Stella Price's Corrie exit - she won't be killed off

When Stella Price leaves the show later this year, she won't be killed off, says Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn.

The Radio Times reports that Corrie's producer says this about Stella's exit: “It’s all tied up in a big story involving Leanne. But it’s a quiet exit for Stella because we’ve got so many massive ones coming up. She’s trying to do the right thing by her daughter and she realises that perhaps her absence might help Leanne.

“Stella is also looking at her mum Gloria’s lust for life and thinking to herself, ‘I’m not dead yet. I’m only 50. There’s a whole world out there'. Hopefully, her departure will be gentle, moving, truthful and one which leaves the door open.”

That door that's open. It's a revolving door isn't it? If she tries to come back it'll deposit her unceremoniously on the cobbles again, double-quick.

I don't care whether it's a quiet exit or an explosive one, as long as it happens soon:)

I seriously hope they are not 'leaving the door open' for this character as Michelle Collins was hinting. Stella was a big mistake made by her bff Collinson, we need to move on from here and ASAP now.

And an even bigger upcoming mistake, according to Digital Spy:

"Coronation Street plans long Sophie, Maddie storyline".

Shudder.

They seemed to have learned something then. After the failure of a dramatic entrance, Stella will slide off our screens and be instantly forgotten. I'm guessing she falls out with Leanne after trying to sort her marriage out. So far, it's been Gail who has been poking her nose in and Stella saying: 'Leave them to it.' Signal another personality change.

I hated St. Ella of the Backroom as much as anyone, but in a supporting role away from the Rovers, she's okay. You can't kill off everyone, Leanne won't be harmed by a connection, and leaving the door open for Mother Reimagined just might work. She leaves, she succeeds at something offscreen, Gloria dies offscreen, she's lonely/has an epiphany/whatever, she comes back, yeah, it could work.

I actually liked Stella. Maybe if she hadn't been shoved into every scene possible when she first arrived on the street, the viewers might have warmed to her character a bit more. They've done the same thing over at EE - parachuted an entire family in to take over the QV and it's right in your face constantly - awful stuff.
Stella will probably have a quick fling with Dev and then head for the hill after realizing in horror that she actually slept with Dev and couldn't sink any lower.

I agree with abbyk. Now that she's at the Bistro and in a supporting role, I don't mind Stella half as much as I used to.

I don't mind St Ella having a quiet exit, but an off screen death would at least ensure she stays gone.

The thing is I don't really see any difference between Stella and Liz.
Since Liz has come back she is doing the same as Stella sticking her nose into everything so why the constant disapproval of Stella.
Liz is just an older and fatter version of Stella and not as good looking, there was no real need to bring her back they could have toned Stella down a bit and kept her.
I just find the character of Liz extremely irritating.

This is code to fans to not repeat their campaign against her when she appears in another show. If you prevent her from succeeding elsewhere, she will be back to annoy you on Corrie. Be warned.

Rebecca, that was rather harsh. I am not looking forward to the Sophie and her lover storyline. You know, it makes me wonder, do the writers or anyone associated with Corrie..ever READ these blogs? Do they not know how tired we are of the "Wednesday coffee break" writing?? Or do they just not care?

LOL! That was one of my nicer wishes for St Ella of the Backroom in the past couple of years!

Here's hoping she tries to exit the Street quietly in the back of a cab only to be suddenly surrounded by angry villagers sporting pitchforks and burning torches, making it obvious she's not welcome and preventing any future desires to return, her last words delivered in high-pitched squeals at the driver to floor it! She should make every effort to dye and cut her hair, change her accent and wardrobe for her next performance.
