Coronation Street Double Episode Review September 23 2013

Stella's nights on the sofa are taking their toll as she complains of a bad back. She has no intention of sleeping in the bed she shared with Karl, and even though Gloria offers to swap beds, or have the Stella/Karl bed fumigated, well steam cleaned, Stella sets off to buy a new bed. At least now Stella is up and about and taking part in life, but as her mother points out, she is like a cat on a hot tin roof. Well, you don't get over marrying a murderer without it profoundly affecting you. Pure speculation here, but might Stella and the Devster head off into the sunset? It would be neat if nothing else. They do get on and seem to genuinely care about each other.

Excellent and convincing acting tonight from Eva and Jason. Eileen's rather sarcastic remark to her son as to his plans to collect a set (of Prices) might have been best left unsaid but Eva and Jason, Eva particularly, seemed tortured by their budding relationship. Eva says it's an unwritten rule that you don't sleep with your friends' exes so it must be double for mothers and daughters. Gloria comes over all tigress regarding her cubs and warns Jason to behave honorably. Eileen though thinks that Jason's new love interest is a high maintenance princess. Well yes she is a bit, but she's OK and has dated so many losers that maybe Jason will treat her right. They do seem very keen though and maybe that's what Stella sees when she gives them her blessing. 'It's fine,' she says, 'you make a lovely couple.' She means it, doesn't she?

Oh dear - Peter and Michelle - not an ideal business team really. With Carla in Antwerp, these two are vying for power. Of course Michelle is fed up- she's having her job taken from her before her very eyes and Peter is enjoying seeing her reactions to his behaviour and dealings.

Not a good couple of episodes for Michelle at all tonight. Ryan emerges from his bedroom, all muscle and self-confidence with Hannah with an H. 'It's spelt with an H says Hannah and Michelle asks her how else it would be spelt. Hannah works at a coffee bar at the airport and Michelle says she didn't think that Hannah with an H would be an air traffic controller. Maybe because of the factory, maybe because she wants him to get a 'proper' job or maybe because he's just had Hannah with an H staying the night, but whatever it is Michelle rips into her son and tells him to stop having 'pipe dreams' about the music business.

Christian phoned! Despite Roy's interference, Hayley and Christian are going to meet in a cafe in Bury. Roy is anxious, and this is how he will be until the very end. So many people have said how moving they are finding it. When Hayley tells Roy she's going out with Fiz  she tells him she's not planning to climb the North face of the Eiger.

Roy's driving lessons are not going too well. Pedantry has got Roy booted out of driving school number one, but Hayley is determined and booked Roy into another school immediately. Perhaps the plan to employ humour to lighten tension might well be needed here.

Nick is awake, kind of, and David is quick to tell people that they mustn't take anything that Nick says too seriously. Always number 1 David - that's who counts, though he is undeniably good with Lily and Max.

Mary was loving working in the cafe but was irritating to Roy and to Hayley who was looking hard at her phone, hoping Christian would ring. And then, Mary said something that her mother used to say. 'If you can make it ring by staring at it, you should have your own booth at the end of the pier.'  Can anyone explain this?

She could be an attraction at Blackpool? Fortune teller? I got nothin'.

Pretty sure that's what it means. That is she has the powers to do that, she would make some money by having a booth at the end of the pier.
