For a while now in Coronation Street, we've seen young Craig Tinker looking shifty every time the Rovers fire is mentioned.
And the official Corrie website at itv.com/corrie now reveals the truth - and we finally find out what Craig knows.
The official website says that in next week's episodes Karl finds Craig (Colson Smith) in tears, believing that he is responsible for the fire. An upset Craig opens up to Karl that he threw away a lit cigarette because he saw him leaving the pub and didn't want to get caught smoking.
Karl knows that if Craig tells anyone then it will expose him as the arsonist, as he told police he was at the Bistro's Full Monty event all evening.
John Michie, who plays Karl, says: "It definitely crosses Karl's mind that he might need to silence Craig for good. When he meets him at the disused railway bridges, killing Craig is definitely on his mind."
Karl employs scare tactics to keep Craig quiet, telling him that if anyone finds out that it was his cigarette that caused the fire he could go to prison for killing Sunita and Toni the firefighter.
"He’s hoping that he can scare Craig enough so he doesn’t say anything until way after the wedding. By that time Karl will be in Spain and he has no intention of ever coming back to Weatherfield. Karl threatens to kill his mum, Beth. This is the last card he can play with Craig. The implication being "if I can kill your Mum, I can kill you..."

We've been saying for AGES that Craig will turn out to be the 'missing link' as far as Karl and the fire are concerned and now we're proved right. And it's obvious I think that they DON'T hold out until after the wedding. Time will tell. :)
Hooray, it's the beginning of the end for Karl! I've been enjoying these Price-less episodes lately.
Craig! Don't tell. Let Karl marry Stella and take her to Spain, never to return.
Rats! I'd hoped Craig was out looking for a rat to keep his pet company which would have been expressly forbidden by his mum. If he'd been successful, he would have told her that the rat just turned up and couldn't he please keep it. Furthermore, I thought Craig was deliberately dropping litter to encourage rats on the street. The 'terrible thing' that he did (in my script) was not starting the fire himself but realising Karl must have done it and letting an innocent person get blamed for it. See, I had it all worked out and you know what? I prefer my version.
I like Craig Tinker - I think he has potential to be another Eddie Yeats or even Stan (all bow down).
Time to make your mark, my little friend. You beat the hell out of some of the other boring kids currently wasting space on this show.
Loving the twist of Craig being a witness to Karl's exit from the pub and finally some more scenes with Craig - hope he stays for a long time. He will eventually unburden himself about the fire - but to whom?
