Lewis the lothario, charmer, gigolo and conman leaves this week with Gail’s shattered life in his hands and forty thousand of her pounds in his bank.  After Gail falls for his scam to take her off to th’Italy to live in a villa in style, Lewis puts his plan into action to take Gail’s cash after she takes out a loan on her house.  As he sits in the Bistro office, he tries to log on to Gail’s online bank but hasn’t got the password. As he struggles with it, in comes Kylie for a rest on the sofa so Lewis quickly hides under Nick’s desk and Kylie doesn’t know he’s there. Then Nick comes in, has a quiet word with Kylie but not quiet enough for Lewis to overhear every word - and Kylie’s baby secret’s out.

He blackmails Kylie into giving him Gail’s password (Bethany2000 in case you’re wondering) and robs Gail of all her cash. Before heading off into the sunset with the stash, he tells Gail he’ll meet her at her house so they can break the news to the family together that they’re about to run off hand in hand for a new life in the sun.  But Lewis doesn’t turn up, not in the flesh anyway. Instead, he sends Nick a text advising him to pop Gail’s “Italian for Lovers” DVD into the machine.  And it’s Lewis who’s the main feature, a video he’d made to tell Gail he didn’t love her and that he’d robbed her blind. “I’m afraid I’ve been rather a naughty boy. There is no job in Italy,” he tells Gail and she gasps. “There is no new life abroad.” Gasp. Gasp. “And there is no money left in your bank account.”  Gail gasps until she can gasp no more.   All she can do is have a good cry: “He’s broken my heart and ground it into the floor with the heel of his built-up shoe.”  “He wore built-up shoes?” asks David, to which both Audrey and Gail sigh and nod yes. The cad.

Audrey and Gail have a major falling out, as you can imagine, and it’s hard to feel sorry for Gail as she’s brought this on herself. With her house in hock to a loan company, no fella, no cash, no job, Nick takes pity on his mum and takes the weary widow of Weatherfield back on at her old Bistro job.  Eileen has a giggle, as you knew she would.  Then Audrey comes up with a plan after she hears that Gail can’t afford to  pay the loan on the house. She offers David and Kylie the money for a deposit on the house which would mean they could get a mortgage on it. “Where am I going to live?” asks Gail. “You’d be their lodger,” says Audrey. “Over my dead body,” replies Gail.

Elsewhere this week, Sylvia waltzed back into Roy’s Rolls from America with secrets and her suitcase. She tells a stunned Roy, who’s somewhat surprised to see his mum: “Don’t just stand there with your sausage in your hand!”  And then a  trunk arrives with all her belongings in it, sent over  from Milton in the U S of A. “We used to have a trunk just like that when I was little,” noted Roy to which Sylvia replied: “Yes, you used to play with your little dinkies in it.”  Anyway, we see Sylvia on the phone to Milton in the States and it’s clear things are over between them, but she hasn’t told Roy that bit yet. She also hasn’t told him that she’s skint and she pretends she’s lost her purse in town.

Elsewhere, Tyrone’s fighting a losing battle for custody of baby Ruth although Social Services allow him access, but only when it suits Kirsty of course. As if things weren’t bad enough, Tyrone’s solicitor tells him the best thing to do is plead guilty of assaulting Kirsty to get things over and done with. At first he considers this hare-brained scheme but then comes up with an even harer one, telling Fiz he’s going to kidnap the baby and do a runner with Ruby.

Over at Underworld, Tracy starts her new job and Rob sends her packing. No, really, he sends her packing with Kirk, which is not quite the management role Tracy was looking for but we all have to start somewhere and where better than training in the art of box lifting and pants packing with Kirk. A girl could learn a lot.

Speaking of Kirk, things are getting tense up in Maria and Marcus’ flat. Darryl the rat escapes and is found snuggled in Maria’s best bra, so she’s not that happy about the extended stay her visitors are taking at her expense. It’s time they moved out.  Oh, if only there was an empty flat on a Street somewhere, that Kirk, Beth and Craig could move into. If only.

And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to get these Corrie weekly updates by email at http://www.corrie.net/updates/weekly/subscribe.htm

The one-liners on Friday's episode were priceless...I have never laughed so hard during an episode...though it did subside when Audrey found the bouquet and note from Lewis....sob. One of the best in a long time.

Loved the rat in Maria's bra tonight. Don't know why she was so freaked out; not as though it was the first time. Getting impatient with Tyrone. Strap a dictaphone to your inside pocket and get your ex to confess. I'm not sure it's admissable evidence but it would get the Street on his side. The whole abduction idea is ridiculous and totally unlikely. But the writers don't have to worry about these things as Tyrone probably only gets to the coach station.

This storyline gets more and more ridiculous as time goes on. I'm expecting Kirsty to also frame Tyrone for attempted murder to go along with the kidnapping. It'd go like this (well, kind of):

KIRSTY (to herself): He stole my baby! Grrrrrrr!

(*Smashes her face into a wall repeatedly until it bruises*)

KIRSTY: There, now I can say he tried to kill me and took off with Ruby. Everyone will believe me! Muahahahahaha!

Even though Tyrone is the victim and the good guy here, it's hard to sympathize with him because he's been so stupid. It'll probably take him nearly dying in prison before his "friends" pull their fingers out and try to help him.
