There's a decent interview in today's Mirror with Michelle Collins, who plays St Ella of the Back Room. No, I still haven't warmed to the character and I doubt I ever will although there's a part of me that remains open to being converted.
Anyway, in amongst the fluff of the interview, Michelle reveals a snippet of an upcoming storyline that suggests things are going to get heated between Stella and Karl, and not in a good way.
She says: "I’ve got loads of other good stuff coming up where my ex Karl gets very
sinister and becomes totally obsessed with me, so it’s all good.”
The reason for the interview and promotion of Michelle is that she's supporting a nationwide smoking cessation campaign, called ‘Don’t Go Cold Turkey’.Visit www.dgct.co.uk if you want information and advice.

Good to see Karl is referred to as her "ex". I dont think St Ella taking him back after saying she would never do it so many times, would be at all credible and does not send out a good message. However John Michie is a top actor and this could be an interesting storyline. Perhaps there will be a Murrdurrr!
The outgoing producer's final fling at attempting to win over viewers empathy and sympathy for Stella?
With so much viwer opprobrium thrown at the character, they'd have been better off developing Stella in the opposite direction and capitalising on the ready-made irritation felt towards the character and do an Owen/Ryan/Rob etc., makeover on her, venomous, vengeful, self-centred, manipulitive, and thus let the viewers enjoy 'hating' her
- let her turn towards the dark side.
Yes, I agree - I'd rather enjoy disliking her than just finding her boring and irritating
The story might be interesting..John M has to have a meatier storyline other than Sunita's lush boyfriend. Maybe he's the one behing the Rover's fire...hmmm?
I said it first peeps. I think Karl will burn down the Rovers, not Sunita.
If in fact it is Karl who starts the fire at the Rovers, I'm hoping it's not going to end up with St. Ella taking him back then months down the road discovering that he indeed set the fire that killed Sunita.....so she has to dump him yet again.
What a waste of a really good actor! And Karl was a good guy when he first arrived. Why did they make him into a 1st class sleazeball?

Hopefully things are so awkward for St Ella that she'll have to move away, never to be seen again.

I agree with JB, I think they have really hurt John Michie by under-utilizing him and making his character so evil. I also don't think Michelle Collins could develop Stella into a badie. She is just too wishy-washy an actor, IMO.
