Kate Ford on OCD and being a Corrie cougar

There's a long interview with Kate Ford, who plays Coronation Street's psycho bitch from soap hell, Tracy Barlow, in the Mirror today.

Kate talks about having OCD and anxiety attacks; about her husband Jon Connerty and four year old son Otis, and about playing a Corrie cougar on the cobbles.

She also says how happy she is playing Tracy Barlow on the Street and wants to stay.

“Definitely for the next few years, if they’ll have me,” she says.

“I used to get itchy feet, but my priorities have changed. I love Coronation Street. I need to make money for my family and I know which side my bread is buttered.”

The full interview has some nice pics of Kate and her family and it's definitely worth a look. It's here.

Yet another "interview" with Kate Ford, not interested in anything she has to say. A terrible actress that does not deserve to be there, harsh but true.

I'm very sorry to hear she wants to stay. The way the character of Tracy is written is unbelievable for a start, and Kate Ford's acting has consistently failed to imbue her with any human qualities. No nuances or subtleties in her portrayal whatsoever!

Tracy's not a cougar; there's not an ounce of Mrs Robinson in her. Another word describes a woman who uses her body to get what she wants. As Frosty and njblas say, KF's acting doesn't help and the character hasn't developed in any interesting way. Amy's only about eight so we've got a few more years of guilt-tripping Steve.

Kate Ford, Phil Collinson and the writers must be the only ones who think this storyline is fantastic, its absolute drivel. They must enjoy winding up the viewers, the couldn't surely see this rubbish as entertainment.

And please I hope the next producer axes her, this character has never developed since her return, or even since her last stint.

No other member of the cast seems to do as many interviews as Kate Ford, not even Kym Marsh. She certainly does seem to know which side her bread is buttered. Bringing her back was one of Collinsom's worse decisions - even worse than St Ella.

She's ok..but I wish there was more for this character other than the devious plot lines that have been done before..it's like she's stuck in a revolving door.

Tracy's plot lines and her reactions are too predictable to be enjoyable. I am not surprised Katie Ford is only doing this for the money, it shows. She has less of a range than Sotty did.

The fact that Kate Ford stated that she wants to stay because "her priorities have changed", she needs to make money for her family and knows Corrie's the only soap that'll employ her does not bode well for the soap or viewers. That is a disgraceful thing to say when you consider how many talented actresses out there would give their eye teeth for a chance on the cobbles.

Honestly, the worst part of that interview/article was her reference to the negative impact having a child had on her marriage. That's the kind of thing you might confide in to your Mum or your close girlfriends - not in an article read by potentially millions. That's just a terrible thing to say about your child.

Kinda smacks of the same characteristics as Tracy - an insensitive bitch.
