What Will Happen to Kirsty?

With baby Soames-Dobbs due to make its appearance soon, I do wonder what's going to happen to Kirsty. She's turning out to be a loathsome character, isn't she? All the horrible things she did to Tommy and Tina on Monday, and poor Tina feels like she's being gaslighted or something because no one believes her when she says that Kirsty is twisted and manipulative.

I've been cringing all the time that Kirsty's been on screen. She's horrible. But she can't last. Soap law tells us that criminals pay for their crimes, and that domestic abuse can't be ignored. Look at what happened to Charlie Stubbs. Justice is always meted out. Kirsty won't be able to settle down and live a happy life with Tyrone and the baby.

I did think she might die in childbirth - it does still happen, it could have been something like pre-eclampsia, maybe. But the photo above would suggest otherwise, so I suppose we might have to put up with her creepy psycho self a little while longer.

I bet though that within the year, she's gone, leaving Tyrone to bring up baby alone. Heartbreaking for Tyrone, and kind of a repeat of what happened to Molly, but I can't see her just leaving them - she's too controlling. Maybe she gets done for what she's done to Tyrone and goes to prison. She might get ill and die. She might get run over by a bus. We can only hope, I suppose.

Kirsty will pay for her crimes somehow. Tracy didn't (ignoring the short stay in prison)and that hasn't helped her character one bit. We know Kirsty will have problems being alone with a crying baby so one possibility is that Kirsty is removed from the home. Maybe for psychiatric assessment? Tyrone will bring up the baby on his own after Kirsty dies - suicide or accident. She has said frequently that Tyrone would be better off without her.

I wish that all soap criminals had to pay for their act; we all know Tracy (boo hiss) killed Charlie Stubbs in cold blood. All that aside, i do wonder if she will in some way harm the baby. She has serious anger control problems, and newborns are incredibly exhausting and frustrating, even for those on an even keel!

In this case, and I could be way off the mark, I think Kirsty has the potential for redemption, if she get councilling. Would they really have Tyrone be dumped/abandoned by two women leaving him to bring up a baby alone, again? (ok, he gave Jack to Kevin after a bit but still...)

Yeah I suppose she could get herself over to Weatherfield Hospital and be magically cured of her brutality.

I predict personality transplant or prison stint. The upside is that Tyrone and Fiz can hook up and raise their sprogs together - to nice, average folk with crazy spouses.

I don't think Kirsty will be leaving in the near future and I suspect that the writers will stretch this story as much as they can, especially now that a baby has entered the picture. Considering what she has done so far, Kirsty is now capable of anything and a new baby certainly won't cure her raging hormones, possessiveness, jealousy and anger mangagement issues. It's almost certain that her problems will escalate over the next few months.

As much as I disapprove of Kirsty's actions, I find her character intriguing because she is multi-layered, complex and troubled. These qualities would be hard for many actresses to play out but Natalie has done a fine job so far. I have also been impressed by the writers who have slowly peeled back the layers to expose the many facets of Kirsty's personality. I don't think we as viewers, or even Tyrone, know the real Kirsty yet.

I must say that the Tyrone/Kirsty storyline has been one of my highlights on Corrie over the summer. Other stories, actors and characters don't even come close.

You're kidding right? She's an excellent character. Just because she's not someone you'd want to meet in real life, doesn't mean she's not a great soap villain. And unlike Tracy, she's got layers. She's insecure, paranoid and damaged which leads to her vile behaviour.

I hope Kirsty stays around a bit longer. I really hate her scenes but NG is a fantastic actress as has been said before. This is one storyline where the writers have been spot on and the character casting perfect. It does make me wonder if this story line is being written by someone outside the 'usual' story writing team.

If they redeem her, it won't be a magical cure. She'll have councilling and it'll be up and down but eventually I think she'll figure it out, if the actress is meant to stay. I hope so, she's excellent

The ratings are high so she won't be going anywhere soon. I don't think the writers would have her harming a baby but I can see poor Ty taking a lot more thumps as Kirsty's character spins totally out of control. She's gaslighting Tina and that dumbass Tommy which is also great to watch.
I wonder if the writers can put Gail in the picture somewhere here..after-all she was step-mum to Tina for a while and might just take Kirsty on. Would be fun to watch those two try to out-manipulate the other.

I will also be interested to see if Kirsty's parents return following the birth of the baby. Perhaps they will play pivotal roles in the next chapter of this storyline. Have we seen them since they appeared at her birthday party? I got the sense then that they would inevitably return somewhere down the line.

Kirsty is one of the more complex and better developed characters that has been brought into the programme over the past few years. I've been impressed with Alan Halsall's performances lately, too. This challenging storyline has certainly brought out the best in these two actors!

Alan Halsall is an excellent actor and Natalie has brought out some stunning performances. These two show the Tina and Tommy characters for what they really are, weak and two dimensional. Whilst the domestic abuse stoyline is unpleasant to watch I hope the writers dont rush it and make it realistic, sometimes these things can go on for years and it would be refreshing to see television reflect this reality- Micky

My prediction (I'll see how close or far off I will be): Kirsty will be responsible for the Rovers's explosion (most likely, to try and murder Tina and make it look like an accident) and be killed. But before that, she'll have made the entire street hate Tina and Tommy, and have Tyrone alienated from absolutely everyone and will continue to physically abuse him. She will hold the "I'll leave!" card over him to completely control him, especially since he's not legally the child's father.

She'll die and all will be well for Tyrone and his baby... for a moment. Since Tyrone's name isn't on the birth certificate, expect a long and drawn-out legal battle between Kirsty's parents and Tyrone for custody.

I've missed something here. Why is Tyrone's name not on the birth certificate? Where was he during all this? Clearly a controlling action by Kirsty and a true sign that things will not improve in their relationship. One can pray that she didn't put his name on the certificate because it isn't his child. Who needs who, now?

The "name not on birth certificate" thing is from a spoiler that's upcoming in a future episode, where Tyrone threatens to take the baby away and Kirsty tells him this to put him in his place.

It'd be easier if he really wasn't biologically the father either, but since this was already done with Jack it's more likely that he *is* and Kirsty did this to completely control him with a constant "I'll leave and take Ruby with me!" threat unless he does *exactly* everything she tells him to.

Kirsty is despicable.

Am I the only person in Britain who finds this storyline disturbing?
I have always enjoyed Corrie as a light hearted soap, but now you feel like you need counselling after each episode between Kirsty and Tyrone.
As well acted as Alan Halsall and Natalie Gumede are, I shall be glad when Corrie is of "Family viewing" again!
