There's some excellent news from this week's Inside Soap magazine about an upcoming custody battle for the Barlows.
Leanne and Peter look set to go head-to-head in the battle for little Simon and it's all going to kick off soon. First, Peter asks Carla to pick up Simon from school where he lashes out at her, kicking and screaming all the way home. Stella rings Leanne to tell her what's happened and Leanne returns to the cobbles determined to get Simon away from Carla.
Also, Inside Soap reveals that in the coming weeks little Simon tells Leanne that Carla's been hitting him. My guess is this is just Simon acting out his rage against Carla - but who knows if Carla would have it in her to hit a little kid, especially if she's been drinking and in a rage?
With Leanne gunning for Peter and Carla, the magazine says that a custody battle will be on the cards - and what a court case it could be. Leanne could drag up Peter's alcoholism and bigamy and Peter can drag up Leanne's prostitution and drug taking past. It could be an exciting storyline, with poor little Simon in the middle of it all.

Simon's old enough to know his own mind so the courts would ask him where he wants to live. He'll say Leanne but she doesn't have a home or a job. Would she make Peter sell the bookies?
I hope Leanne wins. Or Peter wakes the hell up.

Really too bad, that's definitely it for Peter and Leanne. I hate how Phil has completely ruined this one great couple.
I bet Ken and Deidre get Simon and by the way that is one cute pic of wee Simon!
They are all as bad as each other!
what about his mothers relatives, there was the rich grandfather and there must be other relatives on her side
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Leanne would stand no chance in a real court.
I know this is not reality but what grounds would she have to claim guardianship? She is married to his father but didn't adopt him, did she?
Please don't everyone hate me! But perhaps Simon would be better in a foster home. If Leanne can't have him. Would anyone want Carla looking after that dear little boy?
Not to be mean but Diedre and Ken...look at the horrible kids they have raised? They are getting quite a little long in the the tooth to be raising a little kid.
I dont know the law but I doubt whether Leanne would be granted custody over Simon's natural father. Ken and Dreary as grandparents would have more chance I would have thougt. George should have taken him for a better life like he wanted to but Mr Hangdog in the Manger wasnt having any of it then!
The thing is no matter what Leanne has done in the past she has been the only stability simon has ever had, she is the one who has been there for him while peter has been off getting drunk ,lately peter has thought more of carla than simon , he is even going to admit to killing frank to save carla,s neck, he didn't kill him but will say he did, so is he putting simon first ....no, peter is a seriel womanizer and shouldnt have a child.
The Barlows or George the other grandfather who might have some shady business dealings, but was willing to give Simon a huge leap in terms of advantage in terms of schooling and whatever comes with a life of 'privilege'.
thanks for the snooze alert!
Who didn't see this one coming. Jane Danson will be brilliant as usual. I can see this being the end of Peter and Carla...she doesn't need any more drama in her life.
Trials and custody battles= corrie boredom.
Oh god help us, I hope that slaggy Leanne doesn't get him, piss off and go and find another man-in the case she does get custody, unlikely cause she ain't his mum, she should sod off out of weatherfield with the brat.
