No Corrie return for Sarah and Candice

Tina O Brien has revealed that she has not been approached about a return to Weatherfield, despite rumours which circulated last year that Sarah Platt and Candice Stowe were on the verge of a high profile return.

In an interview with New Magazine, Tina states that she hasn't been asked but would not rule out a return to the Street, although she doubts that she would be able to stick around long term.

I personally would be indifferent to a return for Sarah. She was a decent enough character but I would see no real purpose in a comeback at the moment. I really liked Candice and she held comedy value. She is the kind of character that would be a decent replacement for the soon to depart Rosie, but I can't think what would bring her back to the Street.

You were asked for your thoughts back in November, but what do you think now? Would a return for the duo be high up on your wish list or could you think of other characters you would rather see back first?

Thank goodness for that!

I dont hold with characters "being brought back". Most of them have had their time and their character has been exhausted. Bringing back Bet Lynch was a disaster and bringing back Amber hasnt been too clever either. Give fresh blood a chance instead of rehashing tired has beens.

It seems Tina O'Brien is about as indifferent to Sarah's return as most viewers.

i have to agree with Frosty on one point, bringing back characters usually doesn't work unless there are strong ties. Sarah does have the ties but the character herself was tedious. While i do miss Bet, i don't think she would have any place in the show for more than a visit, i.e. Betty's funeral. That goes for a lot of the other old favourites. I am happy they brought Dennis back but they haven't done much with him which is kind of my point. Still, it's nice to have a few more scenes with seniors.

One character that returned a few times but which did work was Liz. Now? Hard to say if she would fit in again but she might.

buttercup iwould like to see sarah come back now just to see what kind of story they would do between her and jason .it would of been better if he was still going with tina but she's not finished doing all the guys on the street .

I don't see any point to bringing either one of them back. Weren't Tina and Jason (don't recall his real name) a couple and had a child together and are now split. Wouldn't that be rather awkward?

Candace could come back, presumably she still has family near the street. She did well with Audrey and agree she could replace Rosie for comedy value - could even be paired with Jason.

Love to see Liz back and oust the sterile Stella

Oh so would I! Liz was great at being "Liz", and I miss her character.
Still waiting to enjoy, or at least warm to Stella's character.

No more bringing back characters, they brought back the crappy Dennis Tanner and done F all with him. Please producers, look to the future and concentrate on the younger generation, the old are past it. And if I have to look at Dennis' smug face again I am going to wretch.

Oh Anonymous - surely you jest? The only problem in bringing back Dennis is that he hasn't had more screen time.
