There's a Coronation Street spoiler in today's Daily Star as Corrie producer Phil Collinson says that there'll be a huge secret revealed at Betty Williams' funeral.
Phil tells the Daily Star: “Betty Turpin’s funeral will be shown in April and the scenes will be a treat for fans as they will be a celebration of what the Street does best. We will be paying tribute to Betty but behind the scenes will be the revelation of a secret she has kept hidden. I cannot tell you what it is but is a secret that Betty has taken to the grave with her and I can promise you that fans will be surprised. There is no love child or anything like that. The secret has something to do with the show’s history but I am saying no more.”

Would she of had an affair years ago? Maybe with Jack Walker?!
or maybe she was the real owner of the Rovers when Bet Lynch took over?!
Getting a bit irritated by Collinson screwing about with the show's history... Ken's retcon of a son, Lawrence, being one such example.
I hope this 'revelation' isn't anything too contrived or far-fetched.
No one ever knew that she was Annie Walker's daughter...
Since it's not going to be another secret child (like Gordon was), i'm guessing they're going to tell us that Betty was a vegetarian, like Betty Driver was herself. Makes the legendary hotpot thing more ironic?
Maybe she's got millions and leaves all her money to The Rovers !!!
maybe Bet Lynch is her daughter or her younger sister! or she is Ena Sharples daughter!
or maybe she knew a deep dark secret about Annie Walker or another past character!
It'll probably be something to do with the Hot Pot, like she stole the recipe from another pub or something.
Or the secret ingrediant is something disgusting like rats tails.
it will be something to do with the hot pot...maybe taking the secret recipe to the grave so no-one else can replicate it and so as we say good-bye to betty so too the famous "betty's hot pot"

All I hope is that it isn't something that will make a mockery of the history as we know it, like they did when they revealed that Susan Barlow hadn't really had an abortion, it was well documented at the time that she did, and I hate it when they do that.
If they do something like make her a vegetarian, I only hope they watch every episode first to make sure she never mentioned eating her own hot pot, because if she did, someone will know.
Hang on. How can there be a revelation of a secret that Betty's taken to the grave with her? Does he mean a mystery comes to light but is never solved? Well, that will be exciting ...
Something that comes out in her will, i would think. OR a letter she's left or it's something Gordon knew but nobody else did.

Either the Hot Pot was actually vegitarian and no one ever realized or... she was a german spy and/or escaped the POW camp during the war. Or... she'll be the umpteenth lesbian to walk the Cobbles.

It could be that she dies of an illness but she's actually known about the illness for years but not told anyone.
I don't think they'll make Betty the character a vegetarian. In one of the eps on the recently-released 1990s box set (1998 or 1999?), we see her eating some "beef" from Elliott's butchers!
I recon she'll have something in her belongings that reveals a secret buried under the cobbles. Thus giving them a reason to lift the street and move the stones to the new set.

I hope it is nothing to do with her will as it would just be about inheritance again, ie if she was a part owner of the pub then it would be a boring revelation. I hope it is something like she had an affair with Hilda Ogden once lol or more seriously she is related to Ena Sharples or was married to Fred Gee but they divorced before she first appeared.
