Chesney becomes a Corrie teen dad

Coronation Street's Chesney Brown is reportedly in for a shock when he discovers he is going to be a dad. His teenage girlfriend Katy breaks the news to him during a romantic meal by placing her positive pregnancy test on the table. It will be a huge challenge for Chesney, played by 17-year-old Sam Aston.

An insider told the News of the World: "Things will certainly change for the little misfit everyone loved. Soon he'll be living in a flat with Katy and his dog, Schmeichel, with a kid on the way."

Chesney at first misses the signs that his schoolgirl love is pregnant and so Katy (Georgia May Foote) realises she has to find a way to tell him. However, it is reported her her candlelit dinner plan fails when a flustered Chesney dashes out without noticing what's on the table.  When he returns, Katy confesses: "I'm pregnant, We're going to have baby." Chesney tells her: "I can't believe how lucky I am. This is all I've ever wanted, we'll be a proper family."

I thought Phil Collinson said he thought there were too many young kids in the show? And yet he's added two more in the few months he's been on the job. I'd far rather he concentrate on getting some great new older characters.

And I suppose Owen will kick the ever-lovin' crap outta Chesney.

No one hear of birth control?

*sigh* lame storyline

I think this'll be a nice little storyline, finally a teen pregnancy that is wanted in the show

Is this a joke? Yet another teen pregnancy? Just because this show is a soap opera doesn't mean it has to follow the soap opera formula to a T... it used to be a pretty good serial drama on ordinary people... teens, shopkeepers, salarymen, laborers, young, old, middle aged...

yeah... more storylines of babies having babies... how fascinating...

I'm rushing to the telly...

Who was the last teen pregnancy? I'm sure it was Tina three years ago, then before that, Sarah. Corrie don't really milk the whole teen pregnancy thing like the other soaps, Corrie teens are usually to busy pushing their mums down stairs or jumping off church roofs to be bothered about babas :p

Owen will pulvarise him. I always thought Katy quite sensible and not stupid enough to get pregnant.

And so we have yet another Corrie youth who gets to squander their brains and potential...*sigh*

I thought Chesney was going to be the next Richard Branson and we would actually see someone succeed. (The streets of Nottingham are obviously paved with gold, as that's the only way to explain how Nick Tilsley had the money to buy into the factory).

Instead we get another teen pregnancy story. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I have said before, "Life imitates art". The latest generation are starting families earlier.

I say! Spiffing storyline! All those working class types do is breed. They can't control their animal passions and are too thick to use contraception. Everyone knows they don't aspire to anything more than raising the next generation of scum. Top hole, Corrie!

Lord Snooty. (Script Overviewer).

Chesney is a mature responsable lad, he runs a market stall, in time that could grow to a shop, he's a clever kid, he'll do well enough without qualifications.

Hell, he can't go to Uni or college anyway, he's got no GCSE's

Arghhh, 2 more bright futures ruined.

It's just frustrates me how the intelligent young people on the street always miss out on the chance for a higher education. Of all the university material teens from the past few years, only Amber & marginally qualified Ryan went on to school; they left and are nearly forgotten. Most of the gifted students, Todd, Rosie, Chesney and now Sophie and Katy manage to fail. Who was the last student we actually saw get a degree, Ken Barlow? Even Gary managed to fail at his chance with the Army and the opportunities that would have provided. It doesn't make sense that in a relatively stable community so many kids would fail. Oh wait, this is a soap.

I think that it is abit out of the ordinary kids wanting to have kids :S, especially if everything turns out perfect for them, then wont it just teach young vunrable teenage girls having kids at this age is allright, and normal? But then again, it'll be good too see Chesney be free and happy, and see them wind Owen up to the max, and thats wat the audience wants to see isnt it? Owen raged up!
So yeah, should be quite an intresting storryline. xxx
