Vera Duckworth returns to Corrie tonight

These are the moving scenes to be aired in tonight’s Coronation Street (Mon 8th Nov) when Jack Duckworth is finally reunited with his ‘swampduck’ Vera. In the tear-jerking episode Jack passes away in the same chair as Vera – and as he is drifting out of consciousness she ‘appears’ at his side. In keeping with the way she nagged him throughout their life together Vera even chastises him for how scruffy he looks!! And then as the Matt Munroe song ‘Softly as I leave you’ plays in the background Jack has one last dance with his beloved wife before quietly slipping away. The moving scenes will no doubt go down in Coronation Street history as one of the most memorable of the past 50 years.

Jack is the 115th character to die since the show began in 1960.

And from what i've read, the singer of that song is Bill Tarmey himself!

I'll be sat here with a full box of mansize tissues because something as powerful as this is going to require them.
Jack & Vera were an institution and tonight will only further cement that into the history books.

Is it dusty in here? I seem to have something in my eyes...

So long Jack, you've been a phenomenon to watch over the years

Wish I could delay this episode, I'm feeling so sad. Here's hoping the next 50 are as memorable!
