Owen reminds me a lot of Jim. He's feisty, tempermental and has a nasty left hook. If there was a fair fight between them, I'm not sure who would come out the winner. Spoilers say that Owen will have the upper hand and beat up Jim or maybe have someone else do it and if so, it's either going to be unfair odds or they'll have taken him by surprise. If Liz finds out Owen is behind the beating, that will probably be him shown the door in a New York Minute. She knows what Jim's temper is like but does she realize that Owen's is just as bad and probably a bit worse? I do think Liz senses the dangerous side of Owen and that's the big attraction. She always preferred men with an edge which is why Vernon didn't last too long. Too safe.
So Jim is back, and he gets to connect with his Elizabeth and his son Steve and granddaughter Amy. Wasn't he great with wee "Maxie"? And, with the departure of Beverly Callard in the New Year, will he and Liz go off into the sunset together? I certainly hope so!

Agree with you here Tvor, I'd love to see Liz setting off for a fresh start with Jim, so I would!
I think if it came down to a physical fight between Jim and Owen, Owen might win simply because he's a younger man than Jim, but Jim would sure give him a good run for the money!
Catch yerself orn! Owen might be younger but he's just a thug. Jim's had military training so he has.
Much as I'd like Jim and Liz to go off together, I'd much prefer that they both stayed and ran the pub as a couple. And I daresay, if Liz does return in the future, it'll be because her and Jim have split up once again. Pity.
I agree with Digger re: Jim V Owen.
Owen's character has elements of the bully. Notice he only squares up to those he perceives as weaker than himself. In the past Big Jim has sorted out rackateers, criminals carrying shotguns, and above all is generally not a bully.
Owen being a bit of a bully, and even though he is the younger man, will recognise Jim's never-say-die fighting spirit and weigh up the odds - then slyly, get others to take Jim down. Bullies lack true courage.
Totally agree with John McE, I would really love for Liz & Jim to stay & run the pub. I so wish Liz wasn't leaving.
I don't like Owen so if it comes to fisticuffs, I hope Jim punches his lights out.
Jim is a real man, it's great to have him back.
It's a shame there hasn't been much of a place for Jim in the Street recently. I like the scenes between him and Steve. Personally, I liked Liz and Vernon as a couple, but I agree, Liz goes for "danger" in a man, and that's why she's gone for Jim Mk II i.e. Owen. I reckon Owen would have the edge in a mano a mano fight with Jim simply due to him being younger (hate that I'm even discussing this!) but I take the point about him being a bully so likely to wimp out/get someone else to do his dirty work. I'd love to see Jim & Liz going off into the sunset together.

Just caught up with the episode in which Jim appears. And he didn't disappoint. He couldn't get past more than five words in his very first sentence without a "So you are." Now that's what I call delivering the goods - and how!
- Pretty sure he said a "your man there" too when latter referring to Vernon.
Anyway, I've made my I-Spy List of famous Big-Jim-sayings and I'm looking to tick them all off. Top points are awarded for a mention of "The big house" - then my prized collection will be complete.
Liked the way he took command in leading the pub in tribute to the dead soldiers too.

Completely agree Danny! My top prize catch phrase would be "I'll tell you this and I'll tell you no more." That's my favourite. I'm kinda worried that Jim might be destined for the rough end of a tram though! I hope he's not near the corner shop come the 6th December!
